Position Summary:
We seek a talented and experienced Market President to lead and oversee our Alabama market. The Alabama Market President reports to the President/CEO and serves as a senior management team member; provides leadership and direction and manages the Alabama market area’s financial and market strategies and activities to ensure short and long-range profitability and planned growth for the market.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Leads all market area associates in executing strategic and tactical plans to achieve growth, business development, and financial targets.
Coordinates the business activity of the market; targets and maintains extensive contact with individuals, businesses, and centers of influence with a focus on the metro Birmingham and Alabama area; maintains extensive contact with customers and the community; plans and schedules proactive visits to prospective customers; aggressively solicits and competes for profitable business, opportunities, loans, deposits, and other banking relationships; establishes and retains effective and lasting business and customer relationships; responds quickly to referrals and evaluates the creditworthiness of prospective customers.
Achieves all established goals, objectives, and expectations, including funded commercial and consumer loan goals, portfolio growth goals, retail banking and deposit growth goals, fee income goals, and other bank products, services, solutions, and objectives while increasing customer satisfaction and retention.
Negotiates complex pricing, loan structure, and loan agreement terms with borrowers.
Attends, participates, promotes, and represents the bank in the market at business, professional, and community events, meetings, organizations, associations, programs, functions, and activities to support and broaden the bank’s image and visibility. Serves on the bank, business, and other bank-related professional committees, boards, and other related functions; participates in CRA activities, community organizations, and projects.
Analyzes, reviews, and structures new loan requests, including highly complex loans of various loan types and industries; approves loans within loan policy guidelines and up to amounts allowed in lending authority limits and presents all requests in excess of individual lending authority to loan committees for approval.
Manages relationships to ensure maximum profitability and credit quality, including new cross-sell business opportunities, monitoring regional loan maturity reports, and ensuring loan renewals and problems loans are handled promptly.
Maintains a sound loan portfolio and provides accurate assessments of the loan portfolio; ensures that grading and credit quality standards, legal and technical compliance procedures, and lending policy are consistent; manages the bank’s credit risk program by monitoring the lender liability, environmental liability, loan officer fraud, loan documentation deficiencies, etc.
Reports the financial results of market operations, the status of loans, banking competition, and new business developments to executive management and the board; maintains updated pipeline reports and prospect database; reviews and analyzes divisional reports and performance for the market; develops and implements effective action plans to generate expected results; and ensures that established deadlines are met consistently.
Provides strong leadership by maintaining a viable organizational structure by dispensing advice, guidance, and direction, creating a positive work environment that promotes good communication, rewards a high level of staff performance, encourages employee development, and plans for management succession.
Identifies, recruits, and retains strong talent to create a high-performing team while driving employee and community engagement and a culture of inclusion.
Regularly conducts effective and efficient staff meetings; increases employee retention; effectively coaches and trains team members; completes timely performance reviews and meets regularly with direct reports to review job performance and expectations and develop performance goals and objectives; develops clear job descriptions, training plans, career development strategies and plans for direct reports to foster professional growth development and mentor future company leaders; engages, monitors, and develops staff to improve performance and/or enhance skills and capabilities; implements corrective actions plans.
Ensures weekly business development activities are completed and reinforces them with active, ongoing role modeling and coaching while enforcing day-to-day relationship-building behaviors.
Develops and executes business development, expansion, and strategic plans with solutions for meeting production and sales goals and objectives and maximizing corporate profit; works closely with the marketing team on the Market area-related marketing and public relations-related functions, projects, and efforts.
Develops annual budgets in coordination with the senior management team and maintains responsibility for attaining growth and high-quality bank loan portfolio, core deposits, and overall operational and financial goals.
Maintains a sound working knowledge of all products, services, programs, and solutions offered by the bank, its subsidiaries, strategic alliances, third-party vendors, and competitors. Stays abreast of all aspects of banking, business development, new banking trends, services, products, solutions, programs, opportunities, banking laws and regulations, developments, practices, policies, processes, procedures, guidelines, and programs.
Participates in developing, updating, enhancing, evaluating, identifying, recommending, and implementing new banking products, services, solutions, programs, policies, standards, guidelines, processes, methods, and procedures.
Protects customers’ information and interests; identifies and complies with all legal requirements, federal, state, local, and other government and banking laws, regulations, and reporting affecting job functions, market, business development, sales, and related functions; adheres to all bank policies, procedures, processes, reporting, guidelines, training requirements, and expectations.
Proactively utilizes the bank’s computer systems, tools, applications, programs, equipment, and other resources to meet goals and objectives.
Demonstrates and maintains a consistent professional appearance, image, behavior, speech, attitude, ethics, and integrity and consistently represents the CTB Brand.
Collaborates and cultivates effective relationships with all business lines for excellent results; obtains and maintains insight into needs and opportunities to ensure that customer expectations are exceeded; creates and promotes a positive and teamwork environment across business lines.
Exceeds all established performance and position’s goals, objectives, and expectations.

Leads initiatives, committees, programs, and projects; mitigates risks, adds value, supports and leads the bank’s vision, mission, core values, business strategies, principles, goals, and objectives.
Ensures that associates consistently exceed all bank customer service standards and expectations.
Prepares effective reports, presentations, and communications.
Analyzes and interprets policies, procedures, processes, regulations, laws, and guidelines.
Demonstrates personal accountability and maintains and handles all confidential, complex, and sensitive matters and information discreetly and appropriately.
Increases efficiency and productivity; evaluates and streamlines workflows appropriately, improves processes and procedures; conducts and prepares job function and activity analyses, ensures efficient delivery of competitive banking solutions, products, programs, and services; evaluates and manages overall expenses.
Exhibits strong initiative and demonstrates a sense of urgency; prioritizes work assignments and projects, proactively acts on opportunities, instills urgency in team members and others, and meets deadlines.
Takes advantage of continuing education and training opportunities to enhance skills, knowledge base, and experience; completes all training required to ensure regulatory compliance.
Manages other assigned functions and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Alabama Market President experience with ten (10) years of proven commercial, consumer, SBA, and mortgage lending, credit underwriting, management, business development, retail banking, marketing, public relations, and sales experience in a banking environment; extensive experience in credit policy and analysis, risk management, compliance & regulation, commercial loan origination (CRE/C&I).
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, management, business, accounting, communications, or a related field; specialized training in business development, sales, lending (commercial, consumer, mortgage, and SBA), and credit underwriting; series 7 and 63 Licenses are a plus.
Results-oriented with a solid background and understanding of business development, industry trends and developments, sales, marketing, budgeting and accounting principles in a banking environment with broad knowledge of all banking products, services, programs, and solutions, customer relations, banking and credit policies, procedures, guidelines, practices, concepts, state, federal, and local laws, and other regulations.
Excellent commercial credit underwriting and lending, business development, marketing, sales, customer relations, project management, negotiation, leadership, management, supervisory, and organizational skills; superior interpersonal, relationship management, research, and analytical abilities; strong financial review ability.
