Scientist II/Senior Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry
Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Menlo Park, California, United States, 94029
AN2 Therapeutics, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering and developing novel small molecule therapeutics derived from our boron chemistry platform. We have a pipeline of boron-based compounds in development for Chagas disease, NTM, and melioidosis, along with early-stage programs focused on targets in infectious diseases and oncology. We also have both an obligation and a strong desire to combine our drug discovery and development expertise with resources available from public and private organizations to address high unmet needs in global health. We believe our company thrives when all employees share this mission.
AN2 is seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry with industrial drug discovery experience. This individual will play an essential role in cross-functional teams and will be responsible for a range of activities. This position is not anticipated to involve direct laboratory work and will report to the Senior Director, Medicinal Chemistry.
Responsibilities:
Playing an instrumental medicinal chemistry role at AN2, including facilitating associated outsourcing, cheminformatics and logistic activities.
Working collaboratively with internal stakeholder functions such as Biology, Project Management, Clinical, Legal and Regulatory as well as external collaborators and funders.
Ensuring research plans are executed in a timely and professional manner that aligns with AN2's project goals and timelines.
Designing compounds using medicinal chemistry first principles, CGDD and synthetic tractability to address series shortcomings and progress AN2 discovery projects.
Working with the project team and more senior Medicinal Chemists to prioritize compounds for synthesis and communicating with chemistry CROs.
Solving complex scientific challenges, such as troubleshooting novel boron-containing compound syntheses.
Reviewing analytical results to ensure high-quality compounds are delivered for AN2 discovery projects and compound collection.
Coordinating logistics with Biology and collaborators to ensure timely transfer of compounds and reduced cycle times.
Working with the project team to identify compounds for inclusion in vitro DMPK assays and coordinating the delivery and testing of those compounds.
Ensuring timely and accurate database updating for delivered compounds and DMPK results.
