Participate in buy-side and sell-side transaction engagements with corporate entities, investment bankers, private equity firms and strategic corporate buyersAssist in preparing for, and participate in, discussions with company management, and buyer/seller advisorsPrepare/review Excel databooks and supporting schedules to support discussions with clients and company managementCollate information to support adjustments to company earnings, identify trends and stimulate conversation leading to potential earnings adjustmentsWork with offshore team to provide guidance on analyses required, how to interpret client data, and to navigate roadblocks encounteredPrepare operating and financial metrics including graphs, charts for discussion highlighting trends, areas of concern, etcMonitor and track fulfilment of data requests from clients, and take appropriate steps to incorporate such data into the Quality of Earnings process.Assist in preparing recasted financial statements including earnings and working capital to present the company’s adjusted operating performance and needsIdentify and conduct appropriate validation procedures around key financial statement itemsDocument work completed by preparing write ups and easily to follow methodology and documentation, taking into account possible alternatives and specific client circumstancesSeeks out basic client industry understanding and applies context when reviewing information and preparing for client discussionsWhat we need from you:
Bachelor’s level education required1 year professional services experience requiredDirect Transaction Advisory experience preferredStrong accounting and financial diligence knowledgeCPA preferredExcellent proficiency in Excel including experience working with and reconciling trial balances, experience with pivot tables, Power Pivot, Power Query, lookup formulas, index/match formulas, etc and building schedules and trending analysesAbility and desire to work with large financial data sets to construct analysis, identify trends and collate topics for discussionStrong PowerPoint and business writing skills, including writing up details of companies’ operations, performance drivers and trendsDemonstrates appetite for technical knowledge of principles, theory and practice, and an ability to apply these appropriatelyThirst for knowledge across multiple industries, and ability to incorporate knowledge gained into tasks and assignmentsDemonstrates ability to apply learnings from one transaction to the next, implementing new skills and techniquesPlans and presents well-organized work productDelivers high quality work under pressureSeeks to improve skills through self-developmentActs as a team player with peers as well as engagement teams or departmentSeven decades, overriding focus: our people and our clients.GHJ was founded in 1953, making us one of the oldest independent firms in the Los Angeles area. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD, technology), for example. At GHJ, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
