(ESA), Community Services Division (CSD) is looking to add a PBS4 at the Newport CSO in Newport, WA. In this role, you'll serve as a lead worker, assisting the supervisor of the Public Benefits Specialist staff by coaching, providing assistance for financial eligibility, and providing focus training. You'll also regularly conduct financial eligibility audits and ensure that current eligibility information and training are communicated with staff.Some of what you'll do:Support Public Benefits Specialist staff who process cash, medical, and/or food benefitsAudit/review work of Public Benefits Specialist staffMaintain and review procedures for efficient workflowVerify and establish overpayments and complete referralsInvestigate and resolve customer complaintsAnalyze oral and written informationEducate stakeholders on public benefit programs and eligibility requirementsWhat we're looking for:Effectively communicate in a virtual setting and in writing with management, peers, direct staff, and clientsAbility to read, interpret and explain State procedures, memos, and directivesExcellent knowledge of Cash, Food and Medical Programs, Community Services Division processes, and confidence in navigating ACES, ACES Online, Barcode, e-Jas, ICMS, Washington Connections, and other related state programs as neededCapacity to make independent decisions based on the knowledge and correct interpretation of public laws and policiesFlexibility to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with interruptionDemonstrate leadership skills with the ability to adapt to each person’s learning and communication stylesWork cohesively within an established teamKeen on promoting a positive work environment that supports collaboration, transparency, trust, honesty, respect, and accountabilityWho should apply?

Professionals with:Twelve months of experience as a Public Benefits Specialist 3ORA Bachelor’s degree or higher AND twelve months of experience as a Public Benefits Specialist 2 determining eligibility for public assistance or long-term care services.OR5 years of combined higher education and/or equivalent experience may substitute for degree and PBS work experience requirements. Total must include at least one year equivalent work experience. Examples of equivalent experience include but are not limited to:Providing eligibility for services or direct customer service serving historically marginalized communitiesExperience examining/processing loan applicationsMedical insurance or rehabilitation claimsUnemployment insurance claimsProviding staff support in financial eligibility determination, or in a job analyzing, verifying, and evaluating financial data and informationANDSatisfactory completion of the agency’s Public Benefits Specialist Training Program.Out-of-state experience conducting financial eligibility determination for public assistance to include financial, medical and food benefit programs will be considered toward experience.NOTE: Additional professional experience described above will substitute year for year for the required education.How to apply:Please submit a letter of interest, resume and three professional contacts with your application.Questions?
