OSD uses a data-driven approach to best support the needs of each individual student, and does so in compliance with federal and state regulations regarding special education, including the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.Job Summary:Reporting to the Program Manager for Physical Restraint/Time Out (PRTO), the Training Coordinator (PRTO) will be responsible for maintaining data on restraint timeout (RTO) events across the district and coordinate training for staff members across the district. The Training Coordinator will facilitate meetings, develop systems and processes for ensuring that staff complete training within specific timeframes. The Training Coordinator will collaborate with district departments including Safety and Security, IT, and others to ensure that ISBE mandates are met in a timely manner. The Training Coordinator will work collaboratively with Support Coordinators.Responsibilities:Support strategic planning and the integration of the Physical Restraint and Time Out Program, as well as other projects that arise within schools, central office, and citywide.Manage PRTO program and related monitoring, training, reporting, and evaluation.Manage ongoing projects and training needs for OSD.Support the planning and coordination of Restraint Timeout (RTO) Reduction Committee, preparation and facilitation of ISBE meetings, communication with Law, preparation of documents including data analysis, as well as the oversight of OSD sponsored training for de-escalation.Develop, implement and review operation policies and procedures for PRTO.Work with various departments across the district to ensure that PRTO policies/procedures are effectively implemented.Use data to monitor the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for development.Answer phone calls from schools and provide immediate assistance to schools and staff regarding training schedule and availability.Assist with setting the professional development strategy and implementation for all special education staff and those affected by special education as related to PRTO and other projects.Provide ad-hoc operational support to all units within OSD (escalated inquiries, emergencies, etc.).Identify opportunities to develop/improve infrastructure and processes to ensure that OSD is effectively supporting schools.Work with all stakeholders to support the department’s Mission and Vision.Perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education Required:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.Experience Required:A minimum of two (2) years of program and/or training support is required.Other Requirements:Working knowledge of Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms).Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Excellent organizational skills.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Proven problem-solving skills.Ability to organize and prioritize information quickly and strategically.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to further the accomplishment of goals.Outstanding knowledge of implementation practices that promote student achievement, including change theory, learning theory, and child development preferred.Excellent application of project planning and strategic planning capabilities, including the ability to establish long-term vision and goals, and the ability to align and manage activities toward the execution of identified goals.Ability to define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps.Ability to multi-task projects and manage time effectively.Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.Conditions of Employment:As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency:
Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19:
Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. “Up-to-date” on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.CONNECT WITH US
