Come be a part of changing the way the world reads.Amazon is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Development Manager (SDM) to join the Kindle Content business. The New Kindle Reading Foundation team works on revolutionizing the next generation of reading possibilities for millions of customers and thinks ahead in the space to bring stronger foundations to delight our growing customers of different personas. We are responsible for building ideas from inception to delivery and own the Kindle Content experience foundational tech stacks which brings a positive impact to our Customers, Publishers, and Authors. We also work across the diverse Kindle Technologies across teams to deliver a delightful experience for our customers on time and raise the bar on engineering excellence in building content experiences at low cost.The Software Development Manager of this team will be responsible for managing the team’s roadmap, creating an innovative culture to bring ideas to delight our customers, working with product managers in shaping the ideas into fine product features, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver the right things at the right time, reviewing designs/architectures, guiding the team with the right technical choices, and hiring & creating the right opportunities to grow the team. The team’s software is backed by C/C++, internal services, and 3P libraries.Minimum Requirements:

7+ years of engineering experience3+ years of engineering team management experience5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experienceKnowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operationsExperience partnering with product or program management teamsExperience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategyExperience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
