We are looking to hire a Senior Network and Computer Systems Engineer to support our Enterprise IT Support Services work at the Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC), Redstone Arsenal. AvMC is the Army's focal point for providing research, development and engineering technology and services for aviation and missile platforms across the weapons systems life cycle. AvMC's mission is to "deliver collaborative and innovative aviation and missile capabilities for responsive and cost-effective research, development, and life cycle engineering solutions" to equip the Warfighter with the best technology today and tomorrow.
 
*Please note that the AvMC positions come with varying degrees of remote/on-site support at the discretion of the customer*
 
Responsibilities:
Support the planning, analysis, research and development, design, development, integration and testing, and implementation of network components.
Develop and implement strategies that support efficient operations and maintenance, information assurance, and final disposition of network components. Network components include: hardware, software, licensing, technical support, and warranty services from third party sources, as well as technological refreshment and enhancements for that hardware and software.
Provide technical support for AvMC networks and systems to include the AMRULI, AvMC Classified networks, and AvMC Classified Standalone systems, as well as interconnectivity issues between other interconnected Local Area Networks (LANs)/Wide Area Networks (WANs) and communications networks, both Unclassified and Classified.
Provide network monitoring, testing, and management services required to sustain and reâ€engineer all existing and future AvMC networks; monitor network traffic, detect and resolve network failures, and support solutions to enhance network performance.
Determine the architecture for installation, replacement, configuration, integration, maintenance, load-balance, monitoring, and optimization of network infrastructure components and devices to include switches, routers, firewalls, Intrusion Detection System (IDS)/Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), security appliances, web proxies, reverse proxies and Network Access Control (NAC) appliances, Virtual Private Network (VPN) concentrators, surge/Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) backup and power conditioning devices, head-end equipment for external network connectivity, and the network servers that control and configure these devices
Secure all systems, hardware, software, and data in a manner consistent with the sensitivity of the systems, data, and mission requirements.
Install, configure, test, operate, maintain, and manage networks and their firewalls, including hardware (e.g., hubs, bridges, switches, multiplexers, routers, cables, proxy servers, and protective distributor systems) and software that permit the sharing and transmission of all spectrum transmissions of information to support the security of information and information systems.
Provide technical support for both wired and wireless networks, to include, but not limited to, support for software controllers, authentication, and installation and maintenance of wireless access points.
Perform network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain server configurations (hardware and software) to ensure their confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Perform lifecycle management associated with server Operating Systems, ensuring versions are in accordance with DoD guidance and policies. 
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
Great communication and organizational skills
Ten (10) years of prior experience in a similar role
DoD 8570 Level II/III certification 
Active Security clearance required
