Backed by $85M in funding from top venture firms, our small lean team ideates, designs, manufactures, and sells cutting-edge weapons to the Department of Defense.Role Summary:In this role you will lead the development and implementation of advanced direction-finding algorithms and models for airborne radar on next-generation defense technologies, including but not limited to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles, and advanced weapon systems. You’ll regularly interact with senior leadership to influence fundamental operation of our platforms while collaborating with electrical, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to steer this project from initial conception to manufacturing.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate in the development of navigation and sensor hardware requirements from system level specifications with flow downs to subsystem and component levels, and companion verification methods.Lead the design of the radar navigation architecture, hardware configuration and direction-finding algorithms.Contribute to procurement, vendor coordination, delivery, acceptance, installation, verification, validation, qualification, and certification of the component hardware.Perform and guide testing and analyses such as flight test, thermal vacuum test, vibration test, etc. to validate top-level system specifications and requirements, and to establish performance specifications of the sensors.Support the development and execution of component-level navigation test programs, including sensor characterization, sensor modeling, and integrated on-vehicle testing.Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, on-vehicle functional testing, and flight testing.Support the GN&C subsystem technical lead with a cross-functional mindset to facilitate subsystem and system level architectural decisions.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics or equivalent.Minimum of 5 years of experience with radar electronics and direction-finding algorithms.Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following technology areas: Radar Systems, Signal Processing, Antennas or Apertures, Radar Calibration techniques.Experience developing systems tools and simulations using Matlab, Python, and/or C.Deep understanding of Kalman filtering.Experience in sensor procurement, integration, and test support.Experience with radio frequency (L, S, X band) navigation sensors and testing environments.Demonstrated experience in verification and test of radar navigation systems.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience.Demonstrated knowledge and experience with navigation systems that include measurements from IMU, GPS and radar.Demonstrated experience in Signal Processing including techniques such as pulse compression, CFAR, monopulse estimation, ground clutter mitigation techniques, range-doppler processing techniques, or SAR processing.Demonstrated experience with target recognition techniques.Demonstrated experience developing Radar Concepts of Operations and System Level Specifications.Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate is an innovative yet disciplined engineer with a deep understanding of radar principles, direction finding algorithms and Kalman filtering.
