Your Impact:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to serve in a critical role as Director of Fund Development. This position requires a passion for our mission of building and repairing affordable housing. Reporting to the Chief Advancement and Marketing Officer, the Director of Fund Development will lead fundraising activities to support the organization’s strategic plan and fundraising goals to grow revenue.
The Director of Fund Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the organization’s fundraising initiatives, including the major gifts program, home sponsorships, and individual giving campaigns. The successful candidate will be a seasoned grant writer who is confident, collaborative, hands-on, results-oriented, and can articulate clear and compelling cases for support to ensure the growth and vitality of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento.
Key Responsibilities
Create and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to achieve fundraising goals to support the organization’s strategic plan.
Supervise a team of 4+, providing leadership on building and growing major, annual, corporate, and foundation giving.
Oversee the grants program, secure funding that supports the organization’s strategic plan.
Personally develop and manage a portfolio of 100+ individual donors and prospects toward an annual fundraising goal of $850,000.
Cultivate new sources of revenue by expanding the existing donor base with a focus on major gifts, grant writing, and planned giving.
Create an individualized cultivation plan for major donors to retain or upgrade donations.
Work directly with Board members and donors who collaborate with us as fundraising volunteers.
Refine and maintain our donor database and use data analysis to inform fundraising strategies.
Provide support to the Individual Giving Manager with annual fund tasks.
Oversee stewardship tasks, including timely execution of donor acknowledgments.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to fundraising activities.
Stay current on best practices and trends in nonprofit fundraising.
Contribute to our organizational health through collaboration, leadership, and integrity.
Maintain discretion with confidential information.
Professional Qualifications
A passionate commitment to working for a progressive organization committed to affordable housing.
Proven experience building and growing a comprehensive fundraising program.
Ability to engage staff and Board members in donor visits.
A demonstrated track record of building relationships and closing major gifts.
Superior presentation skills to deal effectively with diverse constituencies.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency using data to establish a robust donor pipeline.
Superior oral and written communication skills.
Mastery of business terminology and ethical issues regarding charitable gifts.
Experience building and managing strong relationships with diverse communities.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00a-4:30p with mornings, evenings, and weekends as necessary for special events.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to do desk and computer work for extended periods.
Must be able to work outdoors in various temperatures during events.
Licenses and/or Certificates
Must possess a valid California driver's license.
CPR and First Aid certification will be required (at company expense if not already certified).
