Responsibilities
H.W. Kaufman Group is currently seeking an experienced lawyer for our Corporate Counsel role. This position will be responsible for providing strategic and procedural legal guidance including; corporate governance, employment law, transactions, regulatory issues, and other legal matters as needed.Provide legal advice, counsel, guidance and support to our holding company and subsidiaries on business transactions, contract review and regulatory and legal compliance issues with a focus on global privacy and cybersecurity, operational resilience and information management laws and regulationsAssist with a range of corporate matters such as intercompany arrangements, corporate governance and managementConduct general and complex legal research and advise on a variety of topicsMonitor applicable state and federal regulations that affect the Company and its products and various business unitsReview and advise on a wide range of corporate contracts including contracts with carrier and retail partnersSupport compliance programs to minimize legal risk, including assisting in developing and implementing company policies and proceduresDevelop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersAssist with the maintenance of the company's Enterprise Risk Management program, including drafting policies, procedures, and documentation regarding risk tolerance and acceptanceAssist in the maintenance of the company's privacy program, including working with the company's Information Security and Risk Governance teamsAdvise the company's business units regarding compliance with contracts and laws relating to all areas of the business, including HR, Marketing, and Information TechnologyQualifications
J.D. required; prior experience practicing law, litigation experience preferredDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to find creative solutions on diverse matters requiring complex legal and strategic analysisKnowledge of Property/Casualty insurance industry, including regulatory environment for admitted and non-admitted lines of business a plus preferredStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, both internally and externallyExcellent attention to detail, as well as, strong time management, organizational and analytical skillsCompensation Package:Competitive base compensationEmployer paid continuing education courses and designations via access to Kaufman InstituteHealth and welfare benefits including medical, vision and dental401K with employer matchPaid vacation, sick time, and holidaysAccess to Kaufman Wellness ProgramFlexible and hybrid work optionsAbout Our Company
