Boulder County invites interested individuals to submit applications for the role of

Deputy District Attorney

for the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. In this role, the Deputy District Attorney will perform legal duties in the prosecution of District Court or Sex Assault criminal cases. Depending on the qualifications and interest of the applicant selected, the person will be assigned to prosecute felonies in District Court or sex offenses in the Sex Assault Unit. The 20th Judicial District Attorney is an elected state official, whose office prosecutes adult and juvenile criminal charges, serves as an advisor to Boulder County law enforcement agencies, provides aid to victims and witnesses, appears before and advises grand juries, and pursues remedies for consumer fraud on behalf of individual residents of Boulder County.This is a

full-time, benefited position

with the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office - Boulder County. Work hours are

Monday through Friday , as well as periodic on-call duty. The Deputy District Attorney will work out of the

Boulder District Attorney’s Office, located at 1777 6th Street, Boulder, CO 80302 . Under FLSA guidelines, this position is

exempt .Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Classification Salary Range: $99,696-$115,644 AnnuallyClassification Salary Range - effective 1/1/25 - $112,848-$130,896In addition to the Boulder County benefits, the District Attorney’s Office offers:Work From Home two days a week, if duties allow, after 6 months of employment with the office.An enhanced Extended Parental Leave Policy for up to an additional 12 weeks of parental leave.Examples of Duties:The Deputy District Attorney performs routine professional legal duties in the prosecution of District Court and Sex Assault criminal cases to include, but not limited to:Prepares and tries cases involving state criminal offenses.Assists in the intake of felony cases.Explains and interprets statutes.Reviews the status of various cases and determines the adequacy of complaints presented by the public.Researches and writes briefs for county and district court appeals.Prosecutes routine felony matters, and/or misdemeanor and traffic cases, including litigation through motions and jury trial.Assists law enforcement in criminal case investigations and review of warrants.Periodically serves on call to provide legal advice to law enforcement agencies and answer immediate questions from the general public.Performs all related work, as required.May be reassigned in emergency situations.Required Qualifications:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well-qualified candidates to fill our positions. In this position, we are looking for a Bachelor of Law (LLB) or Juris Doctorate (JD).LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado.Applicants must have a valid driver's license.BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING:A job offer is contingent on passing a criminal background investigation with fingerprinting.COVER LETTER & RESUME:All applicants are required to attach a cover letter and resume for this position.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bilingual in Spanish and English.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Prior District Court and/or Sex Assault prosecution experience, including felony jury trials.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:Working knowledge of all Colorado statutes that the District Attorney is mandated to enforce.Knowledge of the rules of procedure, rules of evidence, and general workings of the judicial system.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, court officials, law enforcement, the public, and other government agencies.
