The Server Engineer II is a critical member of the IT Infrastructure team, responsible for maintaining the stability, integrity, availability, and performance of Windows Server, VMWare, and other infrastructure technologies within the bank. As a mid-level professional, the Server Engineer II focuses on ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, upgrades, and patching of server environments and associated systems. This role also involves supporting junior engineers, aiding in application deployment and delivery, and implementing server hardware and operating systems to optimize application performance and availability. Key responsibilities include the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers across diverse environments and platforms, analyzing server performance, and maintaining existing disaster recovery plans.Key Responsibilities and Duties:Office 365 Administration: Manage and support Microsoft Office 365 environments, including user management, licensing, email services, and security settings. Provide support for Office 365 applications and services, ensuring compliance with the organization's security policies and best practices.Windows Server Management: Administer and manage Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and certificate management. Ensure secure and efficient server operations, manage domain controllers, and maintain organizational units (OUs) and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).Vulnerability and Patch Management: Oversee the vulnerability management process for Windows servers, including the assessment, planning, and deployment of security patches and updates. Work closely with the security team to ensure all servers are compliant with the organization's security standards and policies.Business Application Support: Provide technical support and administration for critical business applications, including coordinating with application vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure optimal performance, stability, and integration within the server environment. Assist with application upgrades, patches, and migrations while adhering to change management processes to minimize impact on business operations.Design, Installation, and Documentation: Assist in designing, installing, and documenting information systems, servers, and services that support the bank's core business functions, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.Server Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and application software in accordance with approved procedures and standards, ensuring the security, reliability, and scalability of the server infrastructure.Directory and Access Integration: Integrate servers and applications within enterprise directories, following established policies and procedures to ensure seamless and secure access for users.Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide high-quality, timely technical support to customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve server and infrastructure-related issues. Utilize clear and concise communication to diagnose and address problems effectively.Performance Monitoring and Maintenance: Regularly evaluate system performance by conducting tests using appropriate methodologies and tools. Perform periodic maintenance to maintain, restore, and enhance the performance of all information systems.Issue Resolution and Problem Solving: Support and troubleshoot complex server and infrastructure issues, working proactively to ensure the availability and optimal performance of services.Collaboration with Senior Engineers: Work closely with senior engineers and IT teams to develop and implement robust, scalable solutions tailored to customer needs, system requirements, and organizational standards.Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Serve as a technical resource for junior IS team members, providing guidance and support in resolving complex technical problems related to hardware, software, operating systems, and data management.Training and Onboarding: Participate in the onboarding and training of new IT personnel, sharing expertise and promoting best practices in server management and operations.Disaster Recovery and Backup Management: Maintain and follow existing disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity. Manage and monitor backups, ensuring they are completed successfully and regularly tested for integrity and reliability. Implement effective backup and recovery strategies, including scheduling, retention policies, and restoration procedures, while adhering to established processes and best practices.Data Center Management: Oversee and manage data center operations, including the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers and storage systems. Ensure optimal performance and availability of data center resources by regularly monitoring environmental conditions, coordinating with vendors for hardware support, and planning for capacity and scalability needs.Required Skills and Qualifications:Experience: 5-7 years of experience in designing, building, configuring, and supporting medium-sized infrastructure environments. Proficiency in networking protocols, clustering, replication, encryption, and backup and restore technologies.Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of server systems, storage arrays, fabric configurations, SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, Microsoft Active Directory, and Windows infrastructure services such as AD, DFS, File/Print, DNS, WINS, replication, certificate services, ADFS.Virtualization Proficiency: Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMWare (ESX Enterprise, vSphere, vCenter), and their integration into existing environments to optimize performance and availability.Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Skilled in configuring, optimizing, troubleshooting, and managing Active Directory services, attributes, objects, and object classes.
