This job is a hybrid role, which means you will need to live in proximity to our headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan such that you can commute to the office one or more days per week as needed.What the job is all about
The Software Development team at Genisys is responsible for understanding the business processes of the larger credit union and seeking opportunities to introduce efficiencies to make folks' lives a little easier. Then it is the team's job to design and develop the solutions to support those business processes. These frequently come in the form of vendor integrations, customizations to the core processing system, or report development. We are a small and very focused group of technologists who work closely with the system operations team to implement our solutions. We value technical solutions that are collaborative, concise, and creative but not unnecessarily clever.The role of Senior Software Engineer encompasses a variety of general software development tasks to support IT and the Credit Union at large. The Senior Software Engineer will be involved in architectural decisions related to integration points; both human and system. This means being involved in early conversations and decisions about how a software solution will fulfill a business requirement. A Senior Software Engineer is also an active contributor to software development projects, taking on software development tasks from the team's backlog. Finally, a Senior Software Engineer will be engaged in mentoring junior developers and will exhibit qualities of an active team contributor.About you
You are a software engineer with 3-5 years of experience being part of a robust software development team. Perhaps you've been a product developer and you feel like you'd enjoy working more closely with end users. You are someone who understands the value of knowledge; in seeking it out, and sharing what you've learned. You are curious about new concepts and find yourself digging past surface questions to understand the bigger picture. You are a dominant and uncompromising troubleshooter.You find yourself at a point in your career where you are looking to exercise some influence in a role that makes use of your technical knowledge.Naturally, you are good at breaking complex problems down into manageable tasks. You are a pleasure to work with, and you are seeking an environment that reciprocates that friendliness. You are comfortable working in isolation on tasks and quickly switching to a mode where you are collaborating with one or more of your colleagues. You are ok if the day ends differently than you planned, because things come up and our members and stakeholders come first.You can demonstrate the following:Deep competency using SQL to manipulate data in a relational databaseProficiency in the Go programming languageExperience working with front-end development; knowledge of the DOM, working with a browser's Developer Tools, using JavaScript frameworks such as Ext JSComfort in working with Linux and using a shell such as BashExperience using Git: branching, commits, and pushing to a source control system such as GitHubCollaborating over code using a source control system such as GitHubBenefits
