We are seeking an Sr UI/UX Designer for a very important client.
Located in the Client's office in the Boston office as a Senior User Interface Designer, you will help to execute User Interface efforts within the User Centered Design team as part of the Systems Center of Excellence, working in a fast-paced environment with a team of human factors engineers This role will work on exciting, challenging, and fast-paced projects to support the Surgical Operating Unit Your focus will be on concepting user interface design solutions that align with surgeons' and surgical staff's expectations and abilities, with a particular eye towards safety and ease of use Specifically, this in this position, you will be responsible for maintaining and/or improving user experience reducing usability risks for patients and surgical staff, improving usability workflows, and adhering to our brand guidelines for digital interfaces such as:
• Defining the Digital User Interface, implementing the Surgical Operating Unit's Design system for complex medical devices in the Surgical Operating Unit's product portfolio.• Participating in research activities to identify user needs/requirements and translating those findings, insights into design solutions.• Participating in decision making on product features and functionality partnering with Product Management, Engineering and the Research & Technology teams.• Working with agile teams to collaborate closely with software engineers, copywriters and UX designers.• Participating in concept definition for new products and platforms using "systems thinking" and user centered design methodologies.• Conceptualizing and visualizing product designs and physical interactions using Figma, mocking up digital prototypes using Figma or Principal.• Creating, and improving wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, as well as effectively communicating your interaction ideas using Figma, Miro and PowerPoint.• Creating detailed final design documentation and support for software engineering handoffs and for design requirements within other shared platforms (Jama, Jira, etc.)• Developing ideas based on design thinking, user research, heuristic principles, and accessibility standards.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.-Creates and refines designs for products and services focused on user interfaces and user experience-Considers technology, platforms, and architecture while applying human-centered techniques in design approaches-Engages in generative design research and the translation of user/customer needs into design concepts-Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams and facilitates working sessions, brainstorming, design reviews and collaborative design meetings.- Documents design language and user interface design.
Requirement:
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
Years' Experience Required:Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a UX Design role, 2 years' experience in medical device or related industry preferred 2 years demonstrated experience in the capacity as a User Experience lead for new product development.
Top 3 technical skills that are required for the role:1.Experience using design tools such as Figma, Principal, and Miro2.Effectively visually communicate and present design vision, research needs, concepts, detailed designs both verbally and visually3.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving, technical judgement, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Must Have• Bachelor's degree in UX Design, or related design field with relevant or equivalent experience or known certificate program with related bachelor's degree.• Be open to receiving objective criticism, defending your idea, and improving upon it.• Experience Creating proof of concept models that effectively communicate design intent and demonstrate product potential.• Experienced in all phases of the product development process - from research to concept development to front end development with clear and compelling visual communication, prototype continuously, test designs with users, translate results back into the design process.• Experience in design user experience interfaces on a device or a large system is preferred.• Experience in managing your own project and the ability to seamlessly switch between big picture thinking and product-level details.• Experience working in in agile teams or in a scrum development process.• Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc with problem solving mindset.• Highly motivated self-starter able to achieve results with minimal oversight .• Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a UX Design role, 2 years' experience in medical device or related industry preferred 2 years demonstrated experience in the capacity as a User Experience lead for new product development.• Supporting and guiding the product labeling in creation of images and technical documentation such as User manuals, IFUs and Quick Reference Guides, instructional help content.• Supporting design and development of user interfaces working with Industrial designers, UX Aritecture designers and software developers and communicating design intent to engineering, software, requirements, and product management functions
Nice To Have• A bonus is to be familiar with relevant quality regulations (21 CFR Part 820.30), human factors/usability engineering standards (IEC 62366-1, ANSI HE75), risk management (ISO 14971), and FDA guidance.• A plus is understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3 JavaScript.• Develop collaborative working relationships with a range of functions including, but not limited to R&D, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain functions.• Effectively visually communicate and present design vision, research needs, concepts, detailed designs both verbally and visually• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving, technical judgement, leadership, and interpersonal skills.• Experience using design tools such as Figma, Principal, and Miro.
