The Production Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing product in accordance with cost, quality and quantity specifications.This person carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws. May directly supervise employees or supervise through others.Directly oversee activities related to production, processing and distribution of productsReview production schedule and production orders to make decisions concerning staffing, inventory, work procedures considering budgetary limitations and time constraintsReview operations and confer with staff to resolve production or processing problemsPrepare and maintain production reports, activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity, goal achievement, and determine areas needing cost reduction and improvementDetermine staffing requirements, train employees and oversee employees in productionDirectly trains, mentors and provides guidance to supervisors to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of production shiftsProvides recommendations on how to streamline and improve the process and improve process capability.Works closely with the Production Operations Manager in the planning and managing of daily operationsWorks closely with QA Manager to ensure food safety standards with regards to GMP’s and HACCP plan are followed at all times by all staffJob Requirements:Basic knowledge of production processes, raw materials, business/management principlesAbility to take initiative; self-motivated to produce resultsExcellent verbal skills; must be able to listen and communicate effectively with othersAble to identify problems, review related information to evaluate and implement solutionsExcellent leadership ability and interpersonal skillsCritical thinking ability: able to solve complex problems, evaluate options and implement solutionsAbility to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.Experience in driving a positive work cultural and being a hands-on team builder, able to recognize resistance to change, leading individuals and teams to embrace personal growth and responsibility.Able to deal effectively with organizational issues; astute and capable of identifying problems and converting them into opportunities.Initiative, a high level of personal motivation, a strong work ethic, and impeccable integrity, relationship building and product knowledge.A non-authoritative leadership style that balances consensus building and buy-in with a drive for action.Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering or Business or equivalent work experience preferred5+ years as production manager in cheese/food manufacturing setting requiredFluency in Spanish a plusFamiliarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applicationsWork EnvironmentAble to work in varied temperature environments (0-50 deg.)Heavy lifting required, some over 50lbsContinuous movement, and must be able to stand for long periods of timeChairmans Foods is an EEO employer and conducts background checks and drug testing as part of the hiring process.
