Job Description

We are looking for a Controller to join our team. This position is hybrid and you will be required to go in office 2 days a week. The Controller is responsible for managing all activities of the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely financial statement reporting. Directs and manages company fiscal records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Knowledge of department of education requirements in the for-profit education industry to ensure compliance. Develop and maintain internal controls and SOPsProvides leadership and supportDevelop standard operating procedures (SOP)Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.Aligns financial policies and procedures with company objectivesResponsible for annual financial auditEnsure timely and accurate month-end closeEstablishes financial reporting controlsRecommends and develops policies, procedures and systems, in conjunction with other departments to meet company objectives.Management of all treasury and cash management functions and reconciliationsDirects all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, collections, bad debt reserve, AR write-off and financial reporting.Oversee revenue recognition process and accurate revenue recognitionDevelop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting.Ensure federal and state tax compliance in collaboration with tax accountantsResponsible for accurate and timely completion of required tax schedules for tax preparation.Ensure payroll tax compliance and timely filing.Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.Supervise, train and educate staff on proper execution of accounting policies and procedures in compliance with established organizational controls and US GAAP reporting requirements.Responsible for accounting system implementationSupports tuition billing and related implementation of policies and proceduresOther duties as assigned.Qualifications

5+ years of management experience8 + years of accounting experienceCertified Public Accountant (CPA)Bachelor's degree in accountingExcellent customer service, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.Ability to work effectively as a member of a teamEfficiency in MS OfficeStrong MS excel skillsAbility to meet deadlines and execute multiple priorities.Works with a sense of urgency and responsivenessExcellent organizational skills with attention to detailStrong time management skillsStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to multi-task in dynamic and changing environmentAbility to identify and manage prioritiesAdditional Information
