is seeking a
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant
to join our team as a
Psychiatric Hospital Consultant Professional in Portland, Maine . We are a cohesive team representing many disciplines, including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Pharmacists, Resident Physicians and Medical Students. We value teamwork and strive to nurture a supportive environment. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides psychiatric consultation to inpatients at Maine Medical Center. The candidate should have a comfort working with patients with substance use disorders.
They provide face to face psychiatric evaluations and medication recommendations to patients on medical/surgical units. Due to the hospital-based setting, an ability to multitask and manage acute clinical scenarios is essential.
Schedule:
Full time - 32 hours per week, 4-8 hour shifts including weekend shifts.
Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree with an advanced knowledge of nursing and/or medical theory and practiceCurrent license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure .Current BLS certification .2+ years of patient care in ambulatory mental health or hospital is preferred.Advanced skill and knowledge in psychiatric diagnosis and psychopharmacology. Comfort in treating patients with comorbid medical problems.This position offers:
