PURPOSE

The Risk Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the investigation and handling of claims from start to finish, including compiling, reviewing and submitting accident reports, preparing and maintaining insurance claim forms, ensuring proper reserves are set for each claim and maintaining files and records. In addition, the Risk Manager will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and overseeing the safety program and policies to mitigate risk potential and comply with legislation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The role will diligently monitor all insurance claims across all jurisdictions with operations, ensuring processes for reporting and managing risks are followedMust have strong knowledge of full-cycle claim managementMonitor and manage timely internal notification, reporting and investigation of claims (Workers Comp, General Liability, Auto and Property, etc.) guidance and recommendations shall include the appropriate medical management track/treatment plan, timely return to work/compliance with light-duty accommodations, analysis of potential credits and/or subrogation opportunities, reserve adjustments, expense cost review, and the optimal case resolutionDirects third-party claims adjusters in the investigation and management of claims, supports defense counsel and makes determinations on claims management, resolution and settlementEvaluate, recommend and obtain denial or settlement authorization for escalated claimsAdminister all claims of insurance programs with the objective to reduce the cost through prevention, proactive management, employee awareness, and participationMaintain Medical Provider Network (MPN)Identifies, develops, and implements safety policies, procedures, programs and strategies and drives initiatives across the company to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with local, state and federal ADA and OSHA requirementsOperational characteristics, services, and activities of a comprehensive risk management and safety programPrinciples, practices, and terminology of Workers Comp, General Liability, Auto, Property, Safety, OSHA, and ADA laws and regulations.Insurance principles, practices, and terminology including claims managementRecent developments, current literature, and information related to risk/safety management administrationPrinciples and practices of customer serviceResearch techniques, methods, and proceduresRestaurant procedures, methods, and equipment- preferred but not requiredPrinciples and practices of program development and administrationPertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulationsQUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish strongly desiredExcellent verbal and written communicationDemonstrated working knowledge and implementation of Cal-OSHA/OSHA, and safety programsAbility to apply good judgment when responding to officials and investigating safety issuesSelf-motivated with the ability to take the initiativeStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to partner with others to achieve resultsAbility to present solutions effectively and influence decisions at all levels of the organizationProven leadership skills with the ability to inspire others to change behaviors and follow his/her leadExcellent organization and time management skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to travel as required for meeting position objectives, including overnight stays and airline travel when applicableExperience in the restaurant/hospitality industry preferredStrong claims managementValid Driver's LicenseProof of eligibility to work in the United States
