If so, we are hiring a Finance Manager to oversee and manage Health Alliance for Austin Musician's (HAAM's) growing operational budget and revenue sources. Help give voice to the needs of over 3,000 working musicians in Austin and HAAM members and be part of keeping live music alive and well in Austin.
The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing HAAM's financial operations. The Finance Manager accurately controls and manages the implementation of the HAAM accounting systems and collects and processes HAAM's financial data to provide management, donors, grantors, creditors, and others with timely, accurate and understandable information. The Finance Manager will manage HAAM's relationships with its external bookkeeper and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The Finance Manager also serves on HAAM's leadership team. The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either an organization, division, or significant program area, and preferably has experience with employee benefits.

As the Finance Manager you will:
Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.Accurately track and analyze expenses and revenue; advise leadership with the objective that annual revenue exceeds expensesWork with the CEO and development team on the development of all budget proposals for grants and propose budget modifications throughout the year as needed.Review all accounting transactions to ensure proper coding and record transactions within HAAM's accounting softwareSupervise HAAM's banking arrangementsWork with the CEO to manage organizational insurance needsPrepare grant-/project-specific monthly actual to budget report and coordinate the submission of approved reportsProvide clear and transparent guidance to programs on their respective projects, grants, and contracts; clearly communicate and facilitate financial discussions with non-finance staffCoordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the CEO and HAAM Leadership team; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status.Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department's overall policy and procedure manual.Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors.3-5 years related experience and/or training in finance/accountingBachelor's degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, or related fieldStrong preference for candidates with nonprofit accounting experience - at least 1 yearProficient in the use of QuickBooks and associated reports and other financial software applicationsProficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Excel/Google Sheets to track and analyze financial dataWorking knowledge of financial reports and forecast, including cash flow projectionsDemonstrated knowledge and application of non-profit accounting in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Exceptional judgment, analytical, and financial management skillsAbility to communicate complex financial information effectively and strategically to a variety of stakeholders, including Boards of DirectorsExperience with financial management and reporting related to private and government grantsActs ethically, responsibly, and with the utmost integrity alwaysCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion valuesProven ability to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsA successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision makingAnalytical --Synthesizes complex or diverse information to address the needs of the organization and to solve problems; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs workflows and procedures.Project Management --Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time; Manages tasks of responsibilities of others involved in projects.Business Acumen --Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work with strategic goals.Cost Consciousness --Works within approved budget; Develops and implements cost saving measures; Contributes to profits and revenue; Conserves organizational resources.Strategic Thinking --Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals; Understands organization's strengths & weaknesses; Analyzes market and competition; Identifies external threats and opportunities; Adapts strategy to changing conditions.Quality --Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.Work with the CEO, Chief Operations Officer, and Office Manager to manage employee benefits and provide recommendations to the board Human Resource committee.Work with the CEO, Chief Operations Officer, and Office Manager to manage employee classifications, pay rates, compensation reports, and other HR related matters involving finance.You are a great candidate if you have:
