Job Summary/Overview
The Columbus McKinnon Summer Internship program is a full-time, paid opportunity that will run over the summer. You will work within your department and meet as a larger intern group throughout the summer. In the HR department, you will learn day to day activities in each HR function, work one on one with your intern leader and complete a project. The project will be presented at the end of the internship program, with the rest of the summer interns. There are community and social events throughout the summer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain appropriate confidentiality in dealing with company and employee informationProvide exceptional customer service to our business units and employeesLearn about benefits, compensation and payroll at Columbus McKinnonGain overview of the Talent Acquisition process. Learn about sourcing, review resumes, schedule interviews, and learn the full-cycle recruitment processLearn and conduct stay and exit interviews, and employee investigations, as neededSupport division process/compliance improvement projectsCreate reports on the HR-related process when requiredAddress queries and issues of workers when requiredAssist the HR team in organizing special eventsBenchmark other companies and establish new policiesOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
Understanding the value of customer service in the HR environmentUnderstanding of Human Resources practices and terminologyBasic understanding of labor legislation and employment lawsWorking knowledge of MS Office or database systems, HRISExcellent planning and organizational skillsExceptional verbal and written communication skillsAbility to manage and handle multiple tasksExceptional attention to detailStrong work ethicGood time management skillsAbility to work independentlyRequired Qualifications
Must be a rising junior or senior enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's degree programApplicants must have authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this roleAbility to work full time from June 2, 2025 to August 8, 2025Must be able to travel at start and end of program
