The Records Management Technician is part of the City Manager's Office and Department which offers opportunities to be directly involved with City Council business, communications with citizens, and the opportunity to work with several City departments. This position is vital in ensuring the City provides public transparency to the community through implementing the Wyoming Public Records Act.Incumbent is responsible for the administration of compiling, tracking, organizing, and maintaining physical and electronic documents in large filing systems.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives general supervision from the City Clerk or higher-level management staff.
Typical Class Essential Duties
1. Identifies, develops, and implements record management procedures and strategies to ensure compliance with applicable documents that are kept under the auspices of the City Clerk, as per State Statute, State Retention Guidelines, City Policy, and any other applicable laws and regulations.
2. Serves as the administrator over the City's electronic record management system; assists departments with educating and training, public records law, policies, and procedures.
3. Collects, organizes, and maintains electronic and physical records produced by City departments which include tracking and retrieving documents and maintaining on and off-site storage facilities.
4. Coordinates forms for submission by departments for purging and destruction of applicable records.
5. Processes all public records requests for the City of Casper and facilitates compliance with public records laws; assists with educating and training all departments on public records law, policies, and procedures.
6. Serves as a backup in the City Clerk's absence, including serving at City Council meetings, preparing agendas/packets, taking meeting minutes, and coordinating schedules for signing documents needed by the Mayor and City Clerk.
7. Assists with Municipal elections, maintaining the City's Municipal Code Book, and other routine and special projects; attends meetings as assigned; transcribes meetings into written minutes.
8. Keep current with new trends and innovations in municipal clerk/records management; researches and recommends changes to policies and procedures, software applications, and related tools.
9. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
10.
