Apeiron Labs, Cambridge, Massachusetts, us, 02140
About the Team -Do you love the challenge of working on unsolved problems and creating something new? At Apeiron, dynamic, smart people and inspiring, innovative technologies are the norm. As a member of our dynamic group, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to craft upcoming products and technologies that will add to our understanding of the world's oceans.About the Role -We are seeking to fill a lead mechanical engineer position with experience in the design documentation and fabrication of subsea equipment. Candidates should have experience in a multidisciplinary team delivering integrated electromechanical systems. Specialization in hydrodynamics, subsea packaging, and additive manufacturing is welcome. A drive for high-yield, low-cost design innovation is needed to reduce the complexity and bring about a step change in the subsea manufacturing space. For us, remote work could mean being offshore, deploying our systems to sea, and bringing them back home. An adventurer's mindset is an asset. How you will make an impact on ocean intelligence:Deliver the mechanical design of our next-generation profiler by solving major challenges in the design of buoyancy control systems, structures, and packaging.Develop and maintain a thorough and detailed model to enable the simulation of systems, CB/CG modeling, and buoyancy models.Bring a hands-on approach to working with our partners, fabricators, and internal team to bring prototypes to reality in a compressed timeframe.Participate in all phases of the testing cycle to provide early identification of risks to the project and rapidly provide cost and performance implicationsProvide guidance and a strong engineering voice as the manufacturing team ramps up to production quantities.Show your work in excellent documentation and engineering process design. Building and maintaining processes that are foundational to great product deliveryWhat you should have:BSME (or related degree) from 4-year college/university6+ years of relevant experienceExpertise in one of the mainstream 3D mechanical engineering CAD/Simulation software programsExpertise in finite-element analysis to evaluate stresses, and structural modesDemonstrated ability to work effectively amongst a diverse group of engineering disciplines.US Citizen or Permanent ResidentIt'd be great if you also had these:MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics with ≥ 10 years of relevant experienceExperience in engineering leadership roles in a cross-functional environmentProficiency with maker skills such as rapid prototyping machinery and electromechanical assembly
