University Information Services (UIS) provides technical services and enterprise applications to the University of Colorado's (CU) four campuses and the Office of the President. Position Summary: The QA Engineer interfaces with application developers to provide testing feedback and problem resolution. This position requires skill in system testing and administration techniques. As defined by the quality assurance processes, the QA Engineer will work with the Manager Quality Assurance to certify tested applications for production, to deploy change request items to test and production environments, and to ensure that all documentation for the System is in place prior to release into the production environment.

As a member of the Quality Assurance Team, this position supports all University Information Services applications development teams in their development, design, planning, and scripting testing scenarios by establishing and executing test scripts, and by reporting on test results. The QA Engineer supports both feature and regression test designs.

This position reports to the Manager, Quality Assurance and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified System.

Where You Will Work: Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule, working most days from home and occasional days in office. Therefore, applicants must reside in the state of Colorado.Description of Job

Duties and Responsibilities:Coordinate and work with project teams through the design and test stages to ensure adherence to business requirementsCreate detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and casesAssist in the planning, design, and execution of functional, performance, regression test scripts using various Open Text testing toolsDocument metrics and provide thorough and concise metrics to Project TeamAdhere to all timelines established through QA Service Level Agreements (SLAs)Support Browser Compatibility Testing (BCT) testing using Browser Stack toolSchedule and analyze overnight weekly load tests, running weekly UFT tests for portal and CS PUM, and providing results to customers overall delivery perspectiveAssist and support the maintenance of WPM (SolarWinds) alert management systemSupport Senior QA Engineer to integrate testing solutions and test methodology across organizationSupport Maintenance Windows during weekends and after hoursWork collaboratively with a variety of groups including senior leadershipWork with senior staff to gain more knowledge to improve QA processes on projectsLearn and follow defined processes and industry best practicesCollaborate effectively within the team environment and receive mentorship from appropriate team membersReceive constructive feedback and be a positive representativePerform other duties as assigned by the QA managerMinimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from and accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)One (1) year of experience with system and application implementation testing including the following:

Executing, and documenting software systems' testingDocumentation of test results, process, and metricsExecuting test cases, scripts, plans and procedure both manual and automatedTracking and logging project issues/defectsWork management software such as Team DynamixTools including or like TOAD, Cherwell, MS Office, MS Access, Visio, UFT, Silk Performer and ALM.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited institution of higher educationTwo (2) years' professional experienceExperience in the following:

Working in Higher Education environmentsERP system such as Oracle PeopleSoft including HCM/FIN, Campus Solutions and Portal.Issue tracking software such as Cherwell, JIRA, Team Dynamix, or ServiceNow

Working Knowledge of the following:

Web technologies such as HTML/DOM, JavaScript, CSS, AJAXUFT, ALM, and Load Runner tool features and supporting basic maintenance window testing

Knowledge of the following:

Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project management methodologiesBrowser Stack tool and Browser Compatibility Testing standardsWeb Performance Monitoring toolsSQL
