Summary
The
Shipping Coordinator
will be responsible for assisting the Warehouse Manager with the daily transportation support, including organizing and processing shipping orders, routing shipments, scheduling carriers, entering shipping information and utilizing scanning software to scan shipping documents daily. This position has a high degree of interaction with employees in Corporate Customer Service, Traffic and Purchasing, Warehouse, and MIS departments. This position also has a high degree of interaction with the transportation companies on a daily basis.
Hours of work for this position are 8:30AM -5:00 PM
ResponsibilitiesActively pursues continuous improvement in a team environment while ensuring you contribute positively to providing total customer satisfaction while improving the environment. Participates in Scanned Physical Inventories as needed.Receives, organizes and enters shipping orders in software program and mainframe network.Ensures all documentation for shipments are in order including proforma invoices, commercial invoices, certificate of origin, and NAFTA.Responsible for monitoring stock availability for orders holding for stock.Release orders based on FIFO inventorySchedules pick-up of freight and notifies carrier of pick-up date.Completes Federal Express, DHL and UPS shipping labels and notifies them when pick-up is needed.Inspection of outgoing orders to ensure accuracy. Including LTL, Grainger, Uline, etc.Obtains freight quotes as needed for shipments while ensuring customer specific requirements are met.Uses vendor portal websites to route orders following customer specific requirements. i.e. Grainger and AmazonMaintains all updated routing guides.Traces any shipments at request of Customer Service Department.Provides information related to orders, changes, and status of delivery to management, corporate customer services, etc.Maintains records and files related to own work. Organizes records and work efforts to assure timely accomplishment of tasks.Initiate invoicing of customer orders which includes review of orders shipped sending of the ASN's and releasing the invoices for distribution.Enters billing (PRO#'s and small parcel charges) information into system (for freight charges)Maintains administration functions (filing) as it pertains to Visual Management.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent. A.S. degree preferred.Minimum 2 years Warehouse/Distribution Center experience preferred.Knowledge of international and domestic shipping requirements & regulations.Proficient in Microsoft Office required. MAPICS and BOSS experience preferred.Basic mathematical skills required.Ability to organize, set priorities, meet deadlines and perform multi-tasks.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.This job uses a telephone, computer, calculator, phone, fax machine, copier and scanner.Physical Demands
Rarely pushes, pulls, reclines, crouches, kneels, twists, climbs, balances, crawls, reaches horizontally, below the waist, above the shoulder, or uses manual dexterity. Occasionally lifts, carries, stands, and squats.Frequently sits and walks.
Working Conditions
Rarely deals with low temperature, high temperature, wetness, slippery surfaces, moving objects, vibration, confined spaces, high elevation, oil, explosives, electrical hazards, toxic conditions, low humidity, high humidity, chemical irritants, or odors. Occasionally deals with the outside.Frequently deals with the inside and noise.
