DescriptionJob Title: Extruder Operator Location: US Brick, Columbia SC Plant Job Type: Full-time Job Classification: **Starts at $18/hour with consideration factor based on experience** Department: ManufacturingSchedule | Shift: Monday thru Thursday - 7AM to 5:30PM (schedule may change based on needs of the business)Our Expectations:At US Brick, we are looking for a team member who has a roll up the sleeves and get it done in a safe, efficient, and thoughtful manner work ethic. US Brick has a current vacancy to join our diverse and dynamic company as an Extruder Operator. This role will report directly to the Manufacturing SupervisorWhat you will be doing: Set-up and troubleshooting pug mills and extruder machine. Set up and apply texture and coating line during product changes. This includes: downloading the "queued" recipe physically installing the texture and coating equipment required as per the recipe Reports the changeover effectiveness Sets raw material and scrap return feed rates Sets additive feed rates (lignosol, barium, manganese, etc.) Monitors vacuum chamber for over-feeding Monitors extrusion and pugging parameters for consistency and adjusts if required Monitors Dust Collector and associated ducting Continually inspects all visible portions of products for color / texture variance Rejects any defective product and makes proper adjustments to the machine Preventative maintenance of machine Actively supports other crewmembers in training and operations Reports Maintenance requests to the Production Supervisor or Production Lead Hand Communicate and work as a team with other operators Actively participates in maintenance shutdowns scheduled or unscheduled Maintain the cleanliness of the work area on a continuous basis Follow all safety, quality, production, environmental policy, and procedures Be a good team member, assisting others as needed in a helpful way Contribute to team effort by performing other assigned duties as neededThe required skills and education to be successful: High school or equivalent required Minimum of one (1) year experience Lift truck certification preferred Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to communicate effectively Able to perform various forms of physical labor 50+ lbs. The employee is routinely required to climb (i.e. ladders and stairs) and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or stand on tip toes for extended lengths of time, and must routinely lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds alone, and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus with or without ocular aids. The employee must be able to work in variable temperatures and weather conditions and near traffic with varying noise levels and with varying types of equipment and vehicles. The employee must have the ability to work around and tolerate heat and dust. While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is regularly exposed to outside elements of wet and/or humid conditions, rain, and heat; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles. Requires the ability to work outdoors in all weather.
