The Office was established in October 2024 to examine policies and practices that may perpetuate institutional racism and systemic inequities. The Mayor and Council are committed to establishing government policies that promote racial and ethnic equity and social justice.
About the Position
The City of Rockville is recruiting the Director of the newly established Office of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. The Director will work with City leaders and community stakeholders to establish equity, diversity, and inclusion as shared values across the organization. This position reports to the Deputy City Manager.
Essential Job Functions
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement comprehensive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies.
Program Development:
Design and deliver innovative programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Metrics and Reporting:
Oversee diversity metrics and report effectiveness of initiatives.
Community Engagement:
Build relationships with community organizations to support initiatives.
Promote Cultural Competency:
Provide training and professional development opportunities.
Policy Development:
Review and update organizational policies for best practices.
Collaboration:
Integrate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles into city operations.
Advocacy:
Advocate for inclusive initiatives within the organization and community.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or five to seven years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in inclusion management related to significant societal differences.
Experience creating and executing inclusion strategies.
Excellent operational and analytical skills.
Ability to measure success of initiatives.
Understanding of best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Experience building trusted relationships with senior leaders.
Ability to advocate for inclusion efforts.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $120,351 - $159,500. The City offers a competitive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid leave, and participation in the Rockville Employees Retirement System.
