The Development Director will play a crucial role in managing the development department of a growing and thriving orchestra. This position involves spearheading the funding needs of the organization, working closely with the executive team to create strategies for donor cultivation, fundraising campaigns, and grant applications. The Director will be responsible for identifying new funding opportunities, cultivating relationships with donors and sponsors, and maintaining accurate records of all fundraising activities. Additionally, they will oversee the development team, providing guidance and support to ensure fundraising goals are met.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, with experience in securing individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and grants. They should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders. A strategic thinker with a creative approach to fundraising initiatives will excel in this role. Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; master’s degree preferred; CFRE certification desirable.Experience:

Demonstrated success with a minimum of 5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably in the arts.Skills:

Proven track record of successful fundraising, including securing major gifts, planning, implementing strategy, and meeting budgetary goals. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Excellent budgetary and managerial skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge of the following: laws and regulations related to fundraising, planned giving, the grant-making process, best development practices, and fundraising trends at the local and national level. Familiarity with using fundraising software and CRMs (fluency with PatronManager, Salesforce, and/or Wealth Engine desirable).Passion:

Strong commitment to the arts and the mission of the Bozeman Symphony.Character:

High standards of integrity, credibility, and reliability; ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances. Able to initiate and build relationships with prospective donors and interact via telephone, online, and in-person; must be an excellent networker.Additional:

Availability to work concert weekends and special events. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to, lifting up to 30 pounds.
