The Department of Dermatology is seeking a Research Administrator 3 to manage the proposal preparation and/or post award activities for a large volume and diverse set of complex, federal and non-federal sponsored research projects, involving multiple sub-awards, principal investigators, and/or cross-school initiatives.The Department of DermatologyThe Department of Dermatology is committed to the highest level of patient care, as well as the discovery and development of better treatments for dermatologic diseases. Within the School of Medicine, Dermatology is a high-volume and productive administrative unit, managing the pre- and post-award activities for a diverse portfolio of sponsoring agencies, working with federal, industry, and non-profit sponsors on contracts, grants, and clinical trials. The Research Administrator 3 will be part of a team committed to customer service tasked to grow the department’s research enterprise, participate in training and education for research finance staff and faculty, and provide pre and post-award portfolio management with an emphasis on post-award management.Duties include:Prepare complex proposals within parameters of sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines.Develop, prepare, revise, and finalize project budgets, and provide budget justification.Collaborate with Office of Sponsored Research to ensure awards are set up properly and cost-sharing requirements are fulfilled.Review and approve expenditures, advise on post-award spending, and oversee compliance related to fund and revenue.Develop and communicate reports supporting project status.Manage contract closeout process and audit inquiries.Interpret complex university and government policies for project and university personnel.Identify and implement process improvements.Oversee and review work of other staff.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):Bachelor's degree and five years of job-related experience, or combination of education and experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):Expert knowledge of governmental regulations.Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.Excellent analytical skills; demonstrated proficiency in Excel and web-based tools.Strong accounting skills; knowledge of accounting principles.Expert in project management.Ability to review a proposal or manage a project with understanding of the overall scope and goal of each sponsored project.CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:Cardinal Curriculum I and II must be completed to remain in this position.Certified Accountant or Auditor, MBA, project management certification, or similar credential desired.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Frequently sit, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation and perform desk-based computer tasks.WORK STANDARDS:Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients.Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety.
