The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. A reasonable estimate is a base full-time gross annual salary rate of $66,259-$91,718 for Lecturer positions.Percent Time:
Usually 20% - 100%Anticipated Start:
If available, positions usually start in January, various times throughout the summer and/or in August. Applications are typically reviewed for summer session course needs in March, fall course needs in April, and in October for spring course needs.Review Timeline:

The Department of Scandinavian at UC Berkeley welcomes applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses, should a departmental need arise, in any of the following possible areas:Nordic LanguagesReading and Composition (first- and second-year undergraduate writing courses in English on Nordic topics, using Nordic literature in translation)Nordic Literature and/or Culture (may include History, Film, Politics, and/or other related topics)General Duties:
In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and interacting with students outside of class time via email and campus web-based course resources.The department is committed to creating an inclusive environment, one that is supportive of all individuals, regardless of background.Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Completed Master's degree (or equivalent international degree).Additional Qualifications:
For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position.Preferred Qualifications:Completed PhD in Scandinavian studies (or international equivalent degree) or closely related field strongly preferredFluency in English languageFluency in the Nordic language to be taught in this position, if applicableExperience and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level in the U.S.If hired to teach R&C, demonstrated experience teaching reading and writing in EnglishIf hired to teach a language course, professional training in language teachingDemonstrated expertise of Nordic literature and cultureApplication Requirements
