The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at UC Berkeley welcomes applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate courses, should a need arise, in any of the following possible areas:Language (Russian, Polish, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Armenian, Hungarian, or Ukrainian)Reading and Composition (first- and second-year undergraduate writing courses in English on Slavic topics)Slavic Literature and Culture (may include History, Film, Folklore, or other related topics)Language Instruction Coordination, Supervision, and PedagogyGeneral Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and interacting with students outside of class time via email and campus web-based course resources.The department is committed to creating an inclusive environment, one that is supportive of all individuals, regardless of background.Qualifications
Basic qualifications
(required at time of application): Completed Master's degree (or equivalent international degree).Additional qualifications
(required at time of start): For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States is required by the start date of the position.Preferred qualifications:
Completed PhD in Slavic studies or closely related field strongly preferred. Fluency in English and the specific foreign language required for this position, if applicable. Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level in the U.S.Application Requirements
