Summary Description:
The Dean of Nursing is responsible for the judicious growth planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of all instruction and related program management activities in the Division of Nursing (DON). The DON currently houses a Christ-centered, traditional, upper division BSN Degree program that is grounded in the liberal arts and educates diverse students with aspirations for professional nursing practice. This position reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Accepting applications until January 20th, 2025.
Primary Job Duties:Understand, embrace, and promote the mission, values, and core themes of Warner Pacific University.Demonstrate a commitment to a Christ-centered liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the university and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement. Warner Pacific is affiliated with the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana).Contribute to the support and implementation of the Strategic Plan of Warner Pacific University.Support and adhere to Warner Pacific University policies and procedures.Exhibit commitment to inclusiveness, sensitivity, and accessibility in areas of national origin, ethnicity, culture, gender, and disabilities.Ensure ongoing program compliance with all Oregon State Board of Nursing approval rules and CCNE accreditation standards.Lead and collaborate with faculty in curriculum revision per AACN’s Essentials and ongoing evaluation in accordance with University governance, the Oregon State Board of Nursing, and the CCNE.Participate in recruitment, selection, and ongoing development of program faculty and support staff.Recommend nursing faculty members for appointment, promotion, and retention.Oversee the work of the DON Program Manager for assigned roles, especially to ensure acquisition and evaluation of appropriate clinical placement sites to meet program outcomes.Demonstrate effective management of the program’s fiscal and physical resources including program budget development, delegation of projects to support staff, resolution of grievances and appeals, and investigation of approaches that promote all to flourish under intentional leadership.Participate in the selection of qualified applicants for admission to the program within the OSBN’s cohort caps.Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and proficiency in use of technology.Demonstrate leadership skills evidenced by involvement with professional associations and organizations.Support and maintain institutional relationships with external accrediting and regulatory agencies.Support and maintain institutional relationships with local, state, and national professional nursing organizations.Demonstrate the ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, with all members of the university community and outside constituents.Perform robust evaluation and assessment measures by required deadlines to ensure program effectiveness evidenced by educational outcomes.Maintain teaching and advising workload per Faculty Handbook.Be present in the office on a daily basis unless arrangements are made with the employee’s direct supervisor.Participate in Warner Pacific University professional development opportunities.Perform other duties as negotiated.Physical Demands – Work Environment:The position is located in a typical office environment. Professional/business casual attire is required.
