The Site Safety and Health Officer implements procedures to prevent and eliminate injury and illness to employees and assist the company to comply with safety laws, and maintains compliance of various construction and/or O&M Project Sites.DAWSON is a Native Hawaiian Organization 8 (a) small business that brings the Spirit of Aloha to our employees. For more information about DAWSON and our benefits programs, please visit www.dawsonohana.com.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions.Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards.Participates and develops the training of employees on safety policies, procedures, regulations.Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.Performs other related duties as assigned by management.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Indirectly supervises employees.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include addressing complaints and resolving problems.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university required.A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the health and safety field required.Or any additional certifications that may supersede the above.Familiarity with health and safety standard concepts, practices and procedures required.Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.Other skills as required.COMPETENCIES:Managing People - Includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating, and process improvement; Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; Makes self available to staff; Provides regular performance feedback; Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth; Solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external); Fosters quality focus in others; Improves processes, products, and services; Continually works to improve supervisory skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Frequently required to stand.Frequently required to walk.Frequently required to sit.Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.Frequently required to talk or hear.Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is varied, per the project site conditions and activities.Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral.DAWSON is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/VEVRAA federal contractor.
