Job Description - Research Lab Technician 2 Gastroenterology (3298379)Position Overview:Working independently, under general supervision, designs and executes experiments at a professional level in a laboratory focused on mucosal immunology research. May identify, establish, and develop new techniques. Develops modification of existing techniques, as appropriate.In collaboration with other members of the research team, gives input to the development of design protocols. Collects, documents, calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data for presentations and publications. May orient, train, and supervise other lab members.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Independently performs experiments that may be considered complex or novel. Experiments include in vivo assays, flow cytometry, DNA/RNA/protein isolation and quantification including molecular biology techniques such as Gel Electrophoresis, qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA, tissue culture, microscopy, and various immunological assays.Animal care and husbandry. Will assist researcher with complex in vivo tumor and colitis models, tissue sample collection and preparation, as well as maintenance of animal colonies using database software.Calculates, transcribes and analyzes data. Must be proficient with Excel as well as GraphPad Prism. Experience with FloJo software a plus.Helps to prepare presentations and manuscripts for publication.In collaboration with other lab members establishes new and modifies existing research techniques.Qualifications:
BS or equivalent. Must have 2-4 years experience in a related research setting.Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:
Sound analytical and organizational skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Must be able to logically and effectively structure tasks and set priorities.Ability to identify potential problems and troubleshoot solutions.Demonstrated ability to analyze data statistically and to logically present it.Working Conditions:
