Research Lab Technician I Gastroenterology - (3298336)

- Working independently, under general supervision, designs and executes experiments at a professional level in a laboratory focused on mucosal immunology research.

- May identify, establish, and develop new techniques. Develops modification of existing techniques, as appropriate.

- In collaboration with other members of the research team, gives input to the development of design protocols.

- Collects, documents, calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data for presentations and publications.

- May orient, train, and supervise other lab members.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Independently performs experiments, that which may be considered complex or novel. Experiments include in vivo assays, DNA/RNA/protein isolation and quantification including molecular biology techniques such as Gel Electrophoresis, qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA, tissue culture, microscopy, and various immunological assays.

Animal care and husbandry. Will assist researcher with maintaining breeding units and generating/genotyping experimental animals as well as maintaining online animal database.

Calculates, transcribes and analyzes data. Must be proficient with Excel as well as GraphPad Prism.

Helps to prepare presentations and manuscripts for publication.

In collaboration with other lab members establishes new and modifies existing research techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS:BS in a biological/physical science required.New graduate with relevant course or project work.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Sound analytical and organizational skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must be able to logically and effectively structure tasks and set priorities.

Ability to identify potential problems and troubleshoot solutions.

Demonstrated ability to analyze data statistically and to logically present it.

WORKING CONDITIONS:The work environment will be in a standard research laboratory setting. Animal experimentation and husbandry is routinely performed.
