AMI Data Analyst

The AMI Data Analyst position is a highly technical job that oversees the flow of AMI (Advanced Meter Infrastructure) data from 200,000 customer meters to the MPC billing systems. This position ensures the continuous availability of high-quality data from the AMI Systems (Itron AMM, MV90Xi, C2M) to CSS and all other systems that rely on meter data. The AMI Data Analyst will ensure that servers, routers, operating systems, and databases are operating correctly and reporting data. They will analyze the daily performance of all meters, ensure the continuity and quality of data, monitor the billing success, and identify potential operational problem areas. The AMI Data Analyst will ensure the resolution of any meter exceptions caused by system performance, application, or system failures to transmit meter data to other systems, such as CSS. They will work with other team members to prepare daily analysis of AMI system performance, report problem areas to identify performance trends, and develop operational processes to improve data collection.

The AMI Data Analyst will work closely with our partner organizations. Strong relationships and clear communication between these groups are needed to ensure meter data is provided to all required systems in a timely manner to support billing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills)

4-year degree in business, computer systems, or engineering is preferred

2+ years of experience in Customer Services, Metering Services, Technology Organization, Power Delivery operations, data analysis, or communications systems preferred

Ability to work and communicate effectively with the internal partner departments, managers, vendors, and suppliers

Ability to manage multiple complex technology and business issues

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team setting

Knowledge of Customer Services billing processes and field services, communications systems (particularly RF), metering technologies, and the TO systems necessary to monitor and measure 200,000 meters, preferred

Occasional "on call" assignments/irregular hours will be required

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure continuous availability of high-quality data from the AMI Systems (Itron AMM, MV90Xi, C2M, WattNet Plus) to CSS and all other systems that rely on meter data

Monitor and review data several times during each working day to ensure AMI system performance

Detailed knowledge of data flow processes and architecture associated with transporting data from the meters to the data collectors, communications systems, and TO systems

Identify and troubleshoot issues with AMI Systems and infrastructure (hardware, software, and network) that interrupt data flow processes

Ability to detect anomalies and exceptions to the quality standards for the data

Ability to analyze Load Profile data and make appropriate edits working with partner departments (Energy Sales, Customer Services, Revenue Accounting)

Ability to work with others to achieve resolution for issues with AMI Systems or data quality

Provide training as necessary to team members or internal partners

Enhance work practices by assisting with specifying requirements, designing, building, testing, and evaluating the various; write queries, scripts, or programs to enhance data analysis

Prepare summaries and reports of AMI operational activities and results for management

Successful candidate must live or relocate within commutable distance to Meridian Service Center.
