Position SummaryThe
Area Manager
is responsible for overseeing multiple property locations across a designated region. This role ensures Property Managers meet company standards and objectives through regular site visits, team leadership, and operational oversight. The Area Manager will mentor Property Managers, lead weekly property management (PM) calls, and manage regional operations. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Area Manager will also approve purchase orders (POs) and ensure the financial and operational performance of the properties in their portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Portfolio Management
Oversee a portfolio of properties within the designated region, ensuring each meets or exceeds performance goals.
Conduct regular property inspections to assess compliance with company standards and identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with Property Managers to implement strategic plans that optimize property value and profitability.
Support centralized operations by streamlining processes and systems, including maintenance, procurement, and reporting.
Team Leadership and Development
Lead and mentor Property Managers, providing training and support to improve team performance.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and create professional development plans for property teams.
Lead weekly PM calls to review property performance, address concerns, and discuss best practices.
Financial and Operational Oversight
Approve purchase orders (POs) to maintain budget compliance and ensure operational efficiency.
Work with the Director of Operations to monitor property performance and provide regular updates on financial goals and challenges.
Manage property budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility across the region.
Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Tenant and Vendor Relations
Assist Property Managers in resolving tenant issues and improving tenant satisfaction.
Oversee the leasing process to ensure compliance and effective tenant screenings and lease negotiations.
Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality service delivery and cost control.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure properties comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Collaborate with legal teams to address potential risks and maintain compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Property Management, or a related field preferred.
3+ years of experience in property or regional management, preferably in multifamily or student housing.
Proven leadership ability with experience training and supervising multiple teams.
Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi).
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple properties across a region.
Ability to travel regularly for site visits and team meetings.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: 100k – 120k (dependent on experience)
