Purpose of the Role:
The Performance Engineer is responsible for maximizing driver performance and supporting the race engineer.
This includes extensive data analysis, simulation, and video review.
This role will work directly with the driver to optimize driving line and refine technique for fuel and tire management.
This position will also provide assistance to the race engineer in making decisions to maximize car performance.
This job will include extensive travel to races/tests and requires the ability to make decisions quickly and accurately in a high-pressure environment.

Driving technique analysis / driver coachingCar setup / vehicle dynamics analysis and simulationGear ratio selection and gear shift strategiesDrivability optimizationHybrid system energy recovery and deployment optimizationBrake system performanceCooling optimizationTire managementFuel savingAerodynamic performanceAnalyse car data to ensure the vehicle is operating as expected and make data-driven suggestions for improving performanceAnalyse potential setup changes as decided by your Race Engineer and yourself using simulation toolsTake ownership of engineering projects aimed at improving car performanceManage, plan and execute simulator (driver-in-the-loop) tests as requiredChampion automation, effective analytics, and lean reporting. Work smarter, not harder
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering, engineering technology, computer science, physics, or equivalentStrong background in vehicle dynamicsExperience analyzing logged vehicle dataMinimum 3 years of professional motorsport experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using Pi Toolbox or McLaren AtlasExperience with vehicle simulationBackground with a high-level programming language (Matlab, Python, C++, C#)Prior trackside engineering role
