POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Program Specialist to join our team of professionals.
Duties include:
Assists in the coordination of the clinical learning activities and objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) for the Albert and Debbie Tano Medical Simulation Center. This includes scheduling Standardized Patients (SPs) for sessions, organizing agendas and meeting notices, assisting in training SPs, and preparing materials and the learning space. Ensures SPs, learners, and faculty have all materials needed to operate successfully (cases, evaluations, laptops/tablets, props, gowns, PPE (personal protective equipment), etc.).
Organizes and maintains a database to keep track of SPs who are trained and available to participate in sessions, as well as to log SP sessions, cases, and time frame of each session. This includes assisting with documenting SP hours worked for all trainings and sessions and updating the Simulation Centers calendar with SP-related events.
Assists in monitoring SP performances. This includes all aspects of case portrayal such as how the SP delivers details, affect, and physical simulation. This may involve observing live sessions or videos of SPs for quality assurance purposes, reviewing SP evaluations, and reporting findings to the SP Educator to ensure standardization and implement SP retraining if necessary.
Assists SP Educator in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new SPs.
Prepares and submits documents for travel authorizations and assists with SP and office-related purchases.
Maintains inventory and restocks necessary equipment, as needed.
Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning tasks that are logically related.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of office or related experience coordinating functions of an office or department.
