link/button.Position SummaryJob SummaryReporting to the Senior Director of Student Financial Services, the Associate Director of Financial Aid executes Susquehanna’s financial aid program (institutional, federal, state, external) to recruit and retain students. The Associate Director processes financial aid in an accurate and timely manner for university students while also partnering with Student Accounts to ensure the accuracy of student account statements. The Associate Director will ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations on behalf of Susquehanna University. This position is defined as an exempt position under FLSA regulations.Specific ResponsibilitiesPlanning, development, and implementation of Student Financial Aid ProgramsProvide excellent customer service related to the administration of student financial services.Provide on-going training and support to ensure staff development growth and increased knowledge of institutional, state, and federal guidelines.Coordinate and execute streamlined interdepartmental processes within the University.Collaborate with the Senior Director to develop and review office procedures maximizing accuracy, efficiency, productivity, and customer service.Interact and operate within various software systems used in SFS and coordinate updates to the university website as needed.Manage the awarding of financial aid packages to recruit and retain studentsExecute awarding and packaging policies to support enrollment goals and maximize the utilization of funds.Provide financial aid counseling for students and their families.Collaborate with the Senior Director to develop performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned area of responsibility.Work with other university offices to assist them in understanding financial aid information for students.Coordinate with SFS co-workers the authorization of financial aid to be disbursed to student accounts.Cross-train other University members on financial aid, student billing, and other student-facing processes and policies.Create and provide data and/or reports on university operations for tracking and evaluation.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulationsMonitor students’ eligibility for financial aid funds.Attend federal, state, and professional financial aid training conferences.Keep current on federal and state financial aid programs, including interpretation, implementation, and compliance regulations.Administer aspects of the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Loan Programs, PA State Grant programs, Federal Work-Study Program, and Susquehanna’s institutional grant, scholarship, and aid leveraging programs.Develop student consumer information and provide this information to students as required by federal regulation or university requests.Required QualificationsEducation and ExperienceA bachelor’s degree with at least five years of financial aid experience is required. However, a total of nine years of relevant experience, regardless of formal education, will also be considered.Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesThe person in this position will possess the knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to the delivery of financial aid funds for higher education, have experience with technological resources including a wide variety of software programs and applications, and have knowledge of federal tax forms and financial aid application forms.They will be skilled in math and accounting procedures to reconcile student and financial aid fund accounts and be skilled in customer service to provide excellent customer care. They will have the ability to communicate in verbal and written form, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and navigate sensitive financial and personal situations of students/parents.Physical DemandMust be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time indoors. Exposure to repetitive motion of the fingers, hands, and wrists daily. Use of a PC and telephone, photocopier, and facsimile machine approximately 95% of the workday.
