Salary: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 AnnuallyApplication Deadline: N/AThe Associate Director of Financial Aid Compliance at LIU oversees financial aid-related compliance activities, ensuring federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures, and protocols are managed efficiently and effectively. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. Additionally, the Associate Director manages athletic compliance responsibilities, including processing athletic contracts, to ensure adherence to all relevant policies. The Associate Director is knowledgeable about all student benefits and functions of Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Accounting, Billing and Cashiering, and Athletic Compliance.Serve as financial aid processor while adhering to University’s billing and refund structure, cashiering functions, payment plan, collection agreements, end of term deferral and 3rd party contracts. Processing and certification of third-party billing documents.Assist the department in formulating, interpreting, and implementing policy; create, maintain, and implement complete financial aid policies and procedures per institutional, state, NCAA, and federal student aid regulations; use available channels to identify and understand regulatory changes and evaluate their impact on LIU students, policies, and procedures; ensure bulletins and websites are properly updated and maintained with most up-to-date compliance requirements.Assist with data analysis, processing, and management of the campus-based aid programs (FWS & SEOG), institutional scholarships, restricted & endowed awards, and the awarding of athletic aid via coordination with the Athletic Compliance office.Assist with efforts for all financial aid functions in accordance with the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association NYSFAAA.Other duties as assigned.Behavioral Objectives:The Associate Director will be able to consistently demonstrate the below core competencies as well as those set for all professional educators by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association (NYSFAAA), NCAA regulations, and IFAP regulations.Leadership: the leader will have the ability to articulate and demonstrate the vision of LIU Division of Enrollment Services. In addition, the leader will enhance others’ commitment to their work, motivate and engage employees through effective communication.Manage Change: the leaders will demonstrate support for innovation and for organizational changes needed to improve the organization’s effectiveness; initiating, sponsoring, and implementing organizational change; helping others to successfully manage organizational change.Customer Orientation: the leader will have the ability to demonstrate concern for satisfying one’s external and/or internal customers.Solution Focused: the leader will demonstrate a positive attitude and perspective while focusing division needs, tasks and goals.Thoroughness: the leader will ensure that one’s own and others’ work and information are complete and accurate; carefully preparing for meetings and presentations; following up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.Team leader area specializations may include execution of the following functions in one or more of the following areas: Financial Aid, Registrar and Student Accounts.Associate Director Area Specialization: Financial Aid & Athletic ComplianceKnowledge of federal and state financial regulations, university financial policies and procedures, and NCAA regulations regarding student-athlete financial aid.Assist students with understanding financial aid procedures and outline a plan for paying for school, including personal finances, student loans, government grants, and private scholarships.Assist students in navigating the financial aid process, helping to complete and upload forms into Image Now, providing the needed documents, and apprising them of any changes to existing resources.Assist with collection and processing of Verification Documents for all students.Collaborate with Enrollment Services leadership on individual student appeals concerning eligibility.Utilize professional judgment to adjust a student’s eligibility based on documented mitigating circumstances in accordance with federal statutes. May refer complex eligibility situations to the Enrollment Services Director.Associate Director Area Specializations: Student AccountExecute functions required for University billing, refunds, cashiering functions, payment plans, collection agreements, EOTs, award book vouchers and third-party contracts.Communicate billing and payment options to students in a clear and concise manner.Participate in the reconciliation of the Student Account's Office records with those of the Student Financial Services to ensure complete agreement of billing, receipts, disbursements and outstanding receivable records.Reconciliation and daily execution of the refund process.Assist in the management of the collections process for all delinquent accounts.Education Requirements:Bachelor Degree Required, Master PreferredTraining, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:At least 2-4 years of progressively professional experience in higher education, enrollment services, student affairs or academic affairs; sound judgment and decision-making skills.Proven track record of success managing co-curricular activities and/or academic support services.Compliance with NCAA and IFAP regulations.Attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial records and processes.Working Conditions:Flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, are required to execute the position’s role responsibly.Occasional travel to/from other LIU campuses for the facilitation of trainings, meetings and other university functions.LIU is an equal opportunity employer.
