DescriptionCragun's Resort, a premier lakeside destination in Brainerd, MN, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales to lead the sales effort for our renowned resort property. The Director of Sales will oversee all aspects of the resort's sales strategies, focusing on group, leisure, corporate, and meeting/event business. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing innovative sales initiatives that drive revenue growth, enhance the resort's market position, and deliver exceptional guest experiences.Key ResponsibilitiesSales Strategy Development : Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to increase occupancy, room rates, and overall revenue, with a focus on key segments such as corporate meetings, weddings, group events, group golf package business, and leisure travelers.Team Leadership : Lead, motivate, and manage the sales team, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities to ensure high levels of productivity and engagement.Revenue Management Collaboration : Work closely with the Revenue Manager and the General Manager to establish sales goals, pricing strategies, and promotions that align with Cragun’s Resort’s overall business objectives.Market & Competitive Analysis : Continuously monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and market conditions to identify growth opportunities, threats, and emerging sales trends.Client Relationship Management : Build and nurture relationships with key clients, including corporate decision-makers, event planners, wedding coordinators, and key industry influencers to drive repeat business and secure new accounts.Sales Target Achievement : Set ambitious sales goals and metrics, track performance, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure the achievement of sales targets and revenue goals.Event and Group Sales Management : Oversee the coordination and negotiation of group sales, including conferences, weddings, family reunions, and other special events. Ensure seamless communication between the sales team, resort operations, and event planners to deliver outstanding guest experiences.Brand Representation : Represent Cragun’s Resort at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote the resort’s offerings and establish partnerships with potential clients and influencers.Collaboration with Marketing : Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, digital campaigns, and advertising strategies that align with sales objectives and target the right customer segments.Budget Management : Oversee the sales department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources, managing expenses, and maximizing return on investment.Reporting & Forecasting : Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and analysis to the executive team, providing insights on performance, trends, and areas for improvement.RequirementsEducation : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.Experience:

Minimum of 6-9 years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within the hospitality or resort industry. Strong experience in group sales, event planning, and the resort market is preferred.Skills & Competencies :

Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Deep knowledge of the hospitality industry and sales best practices.Familiarity with sales analytics tools, and hotel property management systems.Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.

Work Environment:This position offices on-site at Cragun's Resort. Some travel may be required to attend industry events, client meetings, and off-site networking opportunities.
