Forensic

practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.The RoleWe have an immediate opportunity for a mechanical or chemical Associate Engineer with interests in forensic investigation, root cause analysis, litigation support, risk loss consulting, and hazard analysis. This individual will be expected to execute investigations of existing equipment, systems, and processes in manufacturing and industrial environments. The investigations include root cause analysis, origin and cause analysis, risk loss insurance, and claims response, and litigation support. The candidate will be required to provide direction to, and review the work product of, junior-level staff, coordinate with other project managers on interdisciplinary efforts, support marketing efforts, and develop and maintain client relationships.ResponsibilitiesPerform root cause analysisAssist with damage assessment and origin and cause investigations.Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications.Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations.Manage and mentor other design team members.Perform peer reviews and condition assessments, including order of magnitude cost estimating.RequirementsDegree (Master’s preferred) in mechanical or chemical engineering or a related field.Demonstrated experience working in industrial environments.Professional Engineer License required.Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.Proficiency in advanced analysis modeling such as FEA and CFD a plus.CompensationThe rate for this position generally is $120,000 - $140,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the California Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful California applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in California or perform the position from California. Similar positions located outside of California will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by California Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law.
