Vice President of Operations
is responsible for manufacturing, supply chain management, and quality across all Lummus locations, overseeing the management of multiple plants, and the creation of a culture of continuous improvement by driving lean solutions and cost reduction initiatives, implementing manufacturing best practices, and leading innovation. The position is a member of the senior leadership team which sets the strategic direction of the business.Objectives:Execute the business plan for Lummus operations, including manufacturing, purchasing and supply chain management, production planning, and quality. Lead and coordinate the required internal resources to develop and execute the near and long-term strategy to maximize manufacturing outcomes and proactively plan for changing conditions. This role has overall responsibility for Lummus manufacturing – there are currently 2 manufacturing plants in Savannah, Georgia and Lubbock, Texas. This position is located in Savannah, Georgia.Essential Functions:Lead and manage day-to-day operations with an emphasis on using quantitative metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) that are reported on a weekly and monthly basis.Set and monitor the plants' daily, weekly, and monthly operational targets and act on variances.Execute project deliverables and manage the cost center (OPEX) budget and capital expenditures for the operations organization.Partner and with purchasing, supply chain management and engineering teams to establish and measure progress against annual purchase price savings targets.Evaluate global sourcing options (onshore/offshore), including identification of potential suppliers and management of logistics, cost, and quality.Establish policies for material usage, capacity planning, production methods and employee relations to enhance operational efficiency.Lead the implementation of quality programs and develop continuous improvement initiatives.Partner and collaborate with engineering to improve overall efficiency in Lummus manufacturing processes, with an emphasis on value engineering to create cost savings and operational efficienciesLead, develop, and mentor operations management staff, with a focus on functional and cross-functional teamwork, planning, follow-up, and effective communication. Set talent strategy for staffing, including succession planning for critical roles, in partnership with HR and executive team.Ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Distribution Practices, OSHA, ISO, and other areas of mandatory regulatory oversight.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work performed by this role. Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, or relevant field.Minimum of 10+ years in manufacturing, including 5+ years of experience in a leadership role managing teams.Hands-on experience determining capacity and scaling up to manage different types of manufacturing environments based on product and/or customer demand (e.g., high volume/low mix vs. low volume/high mix, building to inventory vs. building to order).Strong entrepreneurial and business acumen, with excellent attention to detail, organization and planning skills, and action orientation.Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate company growth goals and engage team in the transformation.Ability to initiate and lead change management. Must be able to influence others in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.Willingness to travel as needed both domestic and internationally.Ability to work in a plant environment, and on evenings and weekends as needed to meet business demand.
