We strive to increase degree completion, successful transfer, career achievement, and service and leadership within our community, New York City, and beyond.Reporting directly to the President and serving as a member of the President's Cabinet, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Workforce Development and Continuing Education provides executive and strategic leadership and oversight for the Division of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, which offers a wide range of responsive, cost-effective, and high-quality services and programs.Under the presidential leadership, the AVP is charged with providing direction and policy formation to expand existing and develop new programs and services to meet the needs of the BMCC's diverse college community and its urban community partners.Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:Provide overall direction and strategic leadership of Workforce Development and Continuing Education operations and finances, consistent with the College's strategic plan and vision set forth by the president.Expand and manage workforce development and continuing education partnerships and collaborations, along with engaging employers, funders, industry experts, faculty, staff/instructors, unions, community and civic organizations, and others.Perform systematic analysis that helps to identify program and employment needs and areas for growth and improvement.Create occupational training programs tied to workforce development and continuing education that prepare students for employment and career advancement and fulfill the workforce development mission of the College.Take a leadership role at the College that serves our constituents through publicly and privately supported as well as tuition-based training and education.Plan, implement, and manage key programs with responsibility for budget, personnel, and daily operations.Create alliances for funding through strategic partnerships.Prepare and oversee start-up programs and their operational budgets in partnership with governmental and non-governmental agencies to connect students to career-track jobs.Participate in the development and implementation of marketing plans relating to workforce development.Provide annual program planning outcomes and results for the division, including projected budget expenditures.Coordinate with public and private agencies to provide college and career readiness classes.Maintain accountability and compliance policy on all college and career readiness programs.Supervise advisory boards/committees for the workforce development and continuing education programs.Oversee and direct professional development activities for instructors and staff.Coordinate the implementation of non-credit programming and supervise instructors through division leadership.Prepare and submit reports to and disseminate to administration, designated departments, and designated agencies.Contribute to the continuous improvement of instruction by creating and implementing ways to support the continuous growth and sustainability of the division's instruction programs.Serve as College liaison to CUNY Continuing Education and Workforce Development and other related programs.Prepare, review, and submit monthly payroll reports for processing.Perform other related tasks as assigned by the President.QUALIFICATIONSThis position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years related experience and are at-will employment.The following qualifications are preferred:Earned Master's degree in a related area.Minimum eight years of demonstrated track of leadership and experience in higher education or business setting developing and implementing programs in workforce development.Strong entrepreneurial, innovative leadership, and oral and written communication skills.Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).Experience with programs dealing with the underserved and the ability to work with a culturally diverse population.Commitment to the College mission and ability to collaborate successfully with all segments of the campus community.CUNY TITLEAssistant Vice PresidentCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS$150,000 - $163,000.
