The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) is a vibrant, pluralistic learning community committed to students’ intellectual and personal growth. Reporting to the VP of Enrollment Management, the Director of Admissions and Outreach is a critical member of the Enrollment Management senior staff and is responsible for the ongoing leadership, development, and implementation of campus recruiting, communication, and outreach activities for freshman including new, transfer and international students.
The position’s primary function is to provide strategic direction for all student recruitment and communication initiatives in order to meet the college’s enrollment goals. The Director helps strengthen and streamline freshmen admissions systems and procedures, as well as builds a successful, flexible, motivated, and unified team.
The Director leads and directs freshmen prospect identification and recruitment, including but not limited to high school and adult recruitment events, targeted visitation programming, and student tele-counseling operations. The Director provides programmatic and supervisory management, develops, and oversees the use of social media, e-mail, and web-based enrollment management marketing.
The position works closely and collaboratively with other departments. The Director recommends best practices and resources to engage students and continuously build, lead, and assess recruitment outreach and communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.
Excellent communication and presentation skills. Proven ability to work with both international and domestic students with diverse backgrounds and needs. Proven ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, alumni, employers and staff colleagues. A self-starter who demonstrates strong analytical/organizational and problem solving skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in leading and motivating staff to achieve goals, expertise with various computer and database systems including a CRM, and a commitment to use of technology and analytics in admissions operations and strategies. Travel throughout the New York City metro area will be required, including weekends and evenings.
In addition, the following qualifications are highly preferred:
A proven track record of success in recruitment and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of an admissions office.
Expertise in facilitating organizational development and change.
Competency in analyzing recruitment-related data and assessing programming activities as part of a strategic enrollment planning initiative.
An understanding of innovative uses of technology in the recruitment process.
Experience working with diverse populations.
