Are you passionate about Quality Engineering, data analysis, and solving some of the world's most sophisticated problems? Join the dynamic Sustaining Product Quality Engineering team! We partner closely with Engineering, Operations, and AppleCare teams to ensure our customers continue to have the best experience possible!Own and drive key quality metrics for all sustaining programsBring up strategic manufacturing sites across different geographies with OEM partnersPlan field readiness for new product launch partnering with AppleCare and engineering, including planning and driving Early Field Failure Analysis (EFFA)Monitor customer experience metrics in the field, quality metrics at OEM sites, and work on quality critical issuesCollect and analyze data to identify emerging quality issues, and assess impact of corrective actionsLead weekly Quality Improvement Forums to drive ongoing product improvements with multi-functional partners including Manufacturing, AppleCare, and Engineering teamsLead critical quality issues investigations, technical failure analysis to support root cause analysis, failure replication, and issue resolutionDrive design, process, and reliability test improvements to improve warranty return rateProvide sustaining quality data insights to cross functional teams to support new product baseline, design/process/test improvements, and perform reliability risk assessmentsConduct periodic reviews of Field/Factory Quality Data with OEM partnersGenerate Product Health summaries on a regular basisProvide regular VP level communication of product qualityDevelop automated data reporting tools for internal and cross-functional communicationEnsure operational technical readiness for all phases of the introduction cycle, including driving contract manufacturer preparation for pre-production buildsSupport and attend product development builds as requiredAbility to travel internationally (~20%)Minimum Qualifications
BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems Engineering or equivalent5+ years of experience in manufacturing, field quality, and/or development of new productsPreferred Qualifications
MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems Engineering or equivalentTechnical systems knowledge related to electronics and mechanical assemblyBroad software knowledge (OS & test related)Knowledgeable in data analysis and interpretation; Tableau scripting and JMP scripting knowledge is preferredProven experience in Quality Engineering, Reliability, and Failure AnalysisExperience partnering with international contract manufacturers in mass production; experience traveling to manufacturing sitesClear and consistent communication, including exec level presentation skillsMust be a self-starter with innovation, integrity, and attention to detailOutstanding communications skillsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $122,300 and $227,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
