The compensation for this appointment will range from $140,000 to $150,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. employee benefits.Position Summary Information

The Director of the Counseling Center leads and provides direction for all aspects, functions, and staffing of the California Baptist University Counseling Center (CBUCC) to ensure Christ-centered, biblically based, and psychologically sound mental health counseling, services, and resources in compliance with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), in addition to compliance and partnership with the Student Services personnel and University Administration. The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the CBUCC, providing supervisory oversight to the clinical staff, and implementing a supportive environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Embrace and actively demonstrate Christ-centered, biblically based, psychologically sound therapy.Lead and develop staff as well as manage operations to fulfill the purpose and strategy of the CBUCC.Develop systems, processes, and resources to meet the mental healthcare needs of CBU students.Innovate a variety of ways to expand the capacity of the CBUCC and increase mental healthcare opportunities for students as the University enrollment grows.Ensure proper staffing levels (e.g., supervisors, associates, trainees, etc.) to meet the mental healthcare needs of the CBU student population.Supervise the Assistant Director of the Counseling Center and the Lead Clinical Supervisor.Partner, collaborate, and communicate broadly across campus with departments, schools, and colleges to raise visibility of the CBUCC and its resources.Collaborate with Mental Health, Student Care, Safety Services, Residence Life, and other departments on the development, assessment, and management of protocols for student mental health crises and after-hours emergency calls.Collaborate with Mental Health, Student Care, Safety Services, and Residence Life staff regarding students who may be in mental health crises and provide recommendations for care and support, as needed.Serve as a member of the University Care Team and Wellbeing Intervention Team and provide recommendations regarding best practices for care.Participate in campus trainings and presentations for students, staff, and faculty as well as prospective students and parents as appropriate.Collaborate with the CBU College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (CBSS) in providing placements for students in the Counseling Psychology program.Keep current on laws affecting the CBUCC operations and staffing as a practicum training site.Maintain compliance and licensure with Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) requirements and California laws regulating the practice of psychotherapy.Maintain professional and ethical standards and ensure all CBUCC staff comply with laws, ethics, record keeping, confidentiality, appropriate boundaries, and generally accepted best practices for psychotherapists and mental healthcare professionals.Develop, recommend, and maintain an annual operating budget and serve as the cost center manager for the CBUCC.Maintain professional relationships with other mental health professionals, both on- and off-campus, for the purpose of referrals and consultation as needed by the CBU community.Maintain current licensure with appropriate state and professional agencies.Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.Education and/or Experience

Master’s Degree in counseling, clinical psychology, or related field. Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology preferred.At least 10 years as a licensed mental health professional/clinician with leadership and supervisory experience in a mental health clinical setting.Required Certification/Permits

Must possess the following on the effective date of hire and maintain certification as a condition of continued employment:Current, unrestricted Licensure as a Psychologist, Marriage Family Therapist, Professional Clinical Counselor and/or Social Worker in the State of California.Open Date
