Associate Vice President
that seeks to join a talented group of professionals to promote thriving communities by applying innovative engineering and technology solutions to solve complex issues in transportation. You will work with all levels of public agency clients to make mobility safe, efficient and sustainable for everyone. Responsibilities will include project delivery of complex transportation projects, business development, and staff mentorship within the transportation planning, engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) space to support regional growth objectives. The successful candidate will have working experience and knowledge of the transportation industry at the state, regional, and local levels within Ohio. This opportunity is available as a remote position in Ohio and you must reside in the state.What you will be doing:Lead traffic engineering, signal operations/signal timing, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design, implementation, and integration projects in Ohio and surrounding regionDevelop and serve a client base by providing superior traffic and transportation engineering and planning servicesParticipate in regional business strategy development and execution to meet regional business objectivesConduct business development activities, related to technical ITS and traffic operations projects,
including pre-marketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiationsLead technical project delivery, provide technical expertise and guidance, guide key technical decisions, and make recommendations to our clients on complex and innovative transportation projectsServe as a technical subject matter expert in any combination of the following: traffic engineering or planning, transportation engineering or planning, signal operations, signal timing/coordination, ITS planning, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, and system integrationServe as Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge for large multi-disciplinary projects involving transportation planning, traffic engineering, signal operations/signal timing, or ITS design, implementation, and integration projectsOutreach/communicate Iteris consultant services capabilities throughout Ohio through direct client engagement, conference presentations, professional society/organization/chapter involvement and interactionManage, mentor, and provide leadership to staff engineers, planners and associated technical staff to support their growth and developmentActive in professional organizations at various levels (local, State, and/or national) and remain current in the latest technical innovations and non-technical (laws, codes, regulatory compliance) developments in traffic and transportation techniques and practicesLocal and Statewide travel as required - Develop and serve a client base for providing superior traffic and transportation engineering and planning services - Conduct business development activities including pre-marketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiationsLead technical project delivery, provide technical expertise and guidance, guide key technical decisions, and make recommendations to our clients on complex and innovative transportation projects - Serve as a technical subject matter expert in any combination of the following: traffic engineering or planning, transportation engineering or planning, signal operations, signal timing/coordination, ITS planning, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, and system integration - Collaborate with client management delivering projects to the clients' satisfaction within business objectives - Liaise with local and regional business development effortsCultivate strategic thinking to grow business and increase return client ratesPeriodically participate in coordination meetings and consult with other staffSupport staff management and provide mentorship and training for engineering and planning staffDefine client needs and develop a plan and proposal for delivery of the projectWhat you need to be successful in this role:Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) required, field of study: Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldProfessional Engineer (PE) or Traffic Engineer (TE) licensure, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification or certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) desiredAt least fifteen (15) years as a demonstrated expert in the transportation planning, engineering, or ITS industriesAt least five (5) years’ experience in a leadership role. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams is preferredAt least five (5) years' experience in business development within the Transportation Planning, ITS, or Traffic Engineering/Operations industrySuccessful track record of public sector client serviceBased in Ohio and has experience working with Ohio DOT or Major public sector clients (as a consultant or public sector employee)Strong leadership and communications skills to interact with both internal staff and externally with clients and regulatory agenciesUnderstanding of state, regional, or local transportation industry in general with a strategic market understanding of trends affecting the future of transportation. Knowledge and experience within Ohio related to transportation engineering and Ohio DOT is requiredPassion for the transportation industryFamiliar with tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.Iteris anticipates paying between $170,000 and $195,000 for this role.
