Senior Vice President of Finance & Operations
The Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations will oversee all financial operations of the organization, ensuring financial integrity and promoting fiscal responsibility across all programs and initiatives. This role will be integral in strategic planning, financial forecasting, and managing relationships with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Financial Management and Compliance – 50%
Oversee the financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis to the board and stakeholders.
Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risks.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including tax filings and audits.
Establish and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Manage grant applications and reporting.
Operations Management – 20%
Provide Operations oversight for the organization.
Manage the allocation of resources to maximize operational effectiveness.
Liaise with key vendors including HR and IT providers.
Strategic Planning – 10%
Collaborate with the President and CEO and board to develop the organization’s strategic financial goals.
Provide financial insights and recommendations for operational improvements and growth opportunities.
Leadership – 10%
Lead and develop the Finance and Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement – 10%
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, sponsors, and financial institutions.
Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
CPA designation is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or association setting.
Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
Proven experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to diverse audiences.
Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) preferred.
