GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT

SUMMARY:This position manages all aspects of a construction site from planning to completion, working alongside crewmembers. Responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and being within budget while meeting quality and safety standards. Responsible for on-time scheduling, job profitability, and the general success of all work performed by Bonness Inc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision and Leadership:

Supervise Superintendents and Foremen to ensure compliance with budget, schedule, and specifications.

Develop and motivate Foremen and Labor to optimize operational efficiency.

Coordinate training sessions on equipment use for Superintendents and Foremen.

Inspect final products and communicate quality results to relevant personnel.

Project Scheduling and Cost Management:

Provide Superintendents and Foremen with accurate plans, scope of work, and estimated costs before job initiation. Ensure work is performed as scheduled by coordinating labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment to ensure seamless project execution.

Ensure accurate timekeeping records are maintained by Foremen for crews and equipment. Set and communicate realistic daily and weekly performance goals to minimize overtime.

Facilitate regular meetings with Superintendents and Foremen to discuss project timelines and any potential delays.

Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet deadlines. Review job cost reports weekly with teams to provide feedback and adjust expectations.

Communication and Reporting:

Maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders, including clients and subcontractors.

Address customer inquiries or complaints related to scheduling and work quality. Gather and act on customer feedback to improve service delivery.

Ensure that all team members are informed of project changes or updates promptly.

Prepare and submit regular progress reports to upper management.

Safety Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Enforce company safety policies to ensure a safe working environment. Report violations and accidents promptly to HR and the Assigned Safety Lead.

Thoroughly review that all Safety Accidents/Incidents Reports are accurately filled out, include photographs, and are completed in a timely manner. Conduct daily maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment used by crews. Provide constructive feedback to Superintendents and Foremen based on inspection results.

Ensure that there is proper MOT on all jobsites.

Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards across all projects. Conduct regular inspections of work in progress to ensure adherence to specifications.

Performance Monitoring, Training, and Development:

Establish performance metrics for Superintendents and Foremen to evaluate efficiency. Assess any training needs of Superintendents and Foremen and implement appropriate programs.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide actionable feedback. Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives and make adjustments as necessary.

Supervise and mentor Superintendents and Foremen to ensure projects meet budget, schedule, and quality specifications.

Foster professional development by acknowledging and rewarding outstanding performance.

Conflict Resolution and Team Cohesion:

Promote effective conflict resolution among team members and external stakeholders to uphold a positive reputation and foster a collaborative work environment.

Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices among team members.

Promote a culture of respect and inclusivity to enhance team dynamics and productivity.

Address interpersonal issues promptly and fairly to minimize disruption to project workflows.

Policy Enforcement and Representation:

Communicate and enforce company policies consistently across all teams.

Represent Bonness Inc. professionally on job sites and in client interactions.

Foster a positive work environment by addressing concerns and promoting open communication.

Engage in industry networking events to enhance the company’s reputation and showcase its strengths.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma

Bachelor's degree, preferred

Any equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum 7 years of proven road construction experience/knowledge in a similar role)

Management Experience

Leadership skills

Valid Driver’s License

Effective and superior communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence communication) with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with all stakeholders.

Must function in a team-oriented environment to maximize each employee’s performance.

Thorough understanding of Company and industry practices, processes, and standards, and their impact on project activities.

Available to work after hours and weekends when required.
